workers, who have put the focus on the sector. On the one hand, the ratification
of Convention 189 of the ILO (International Labor Organization), and on the
other, the approval of a new labor regime for domestic workers that includes the
right to contribute for unemployment and places limits on the so-called
"dismissal". by withdrawal". However, this reform keeps these workers in a
special Social Security regime and does not put an end to the internal regime,
two key demands of the group. In addition, it is estimated that there are at
least 70,000 domestic workers in an irregular situation that these reforms will
not help because of the Immigration Law. As can be seen, the measures taken by
the Government and Congress are, as always, insufficient.

The CNT-AIT Sierra de Madrid is no stranger to this model of labor exploitation.
One of our colleagues has suffered for months from the helplessness and lack of
protection of the State against the abuses of her employer. Undercontribution to
Social Security, payments in B, degrading treatment and total disregard for her
situation are some of the abuses that she has had to endure during this time. As
if this were not enough, the impunity of her employer is embarrassing. Given the
special nature of the job that our colleague occupies, the space for union
organization and action is very limited. The complaint and public pressure are
dangerously limited by law since the employer is an individual and not a company,
risking the union and the worker to a disproportionate level of repression. In
addition, the legal consequences (in the form of fines, compensation, etc.) that
the contracting party risks are ridiculous compared to the damage caused to the
worker. And it is that, as individuals, domestic workers are isolated and
unprotected in their workplace.

 From this union we will not stop demanding the immediate regularization of both
the salary and contractual conditions of our colleague, and the immediate
cessation of the threats of the employer, who until now has had no intention of
resolving the unpleasant and pernicious situation that she herself has been
taking advantage of it for a long time. And we also want to remind you, once
again, that we will take the trade union and judicial measures that we deem
appropriate to guarantee the defense and protection of our colleague. Her
impunity and her threats will not stop us.
