CGT has agreed to call 23-hour strikes for November 7 and 11 due to the
exorbitant rise in the CPI, the null negotiation of the III Collective Agreement, the lack of personnel, and of rail service, in which the trains have not beenrecovered prior to the pandemic. ---- From CGT they understand that thecancellation agreements signed by the majority Unions are totally insufficient toreally improve the working conditions of the railway men and women, and of theusers in general. ---- CGT considers it necessary to call strikes against theloss of purchasing power on November 7 and 11 "before the passivity of themajority unions." SEMAF, UGT and CCOO have called off their strikes withoutachieving progress or concrete measures according to CGT sources. However, fromCGT they consider "it is necessary to mobilize for the rights of workers and therights of all users of rail services."Internally, the CGT considers "inevitable to undertake a serious and deepnegotiation of the Collective Agreement, which responds to the needs of theworkers." Likewise, they consider from CGT "essential" a salary increase thatresponds to the increase in the CPI, so as not to lose purchasing power.SEMAF, UGT and CC.OO say in the summons that "the regulation of the 35-hour daywill be promoted." But CGT explains that "the form of reduction or the form ofapplication is not specified, it is talk without concreteness". The callingunions speak of reducing salary scales, when from CGT they point out that "whathas to be done is eliminate them, since they assume that in the same positionthere are employees who earn up to 33% less salary than their colleagues", whichqualify as "inadmissible" and claim "equal work, equal pay." CGT states that"SEMAF, UGT and CC.OO leave other issues, stating that they will be negotiated, but without having achieved anything" and state that "without obtaining rightsstrikes are not called off".CGT is more ambitious and they state that they are looking for "real and tangibleimprovements", they will not demobilize "because of empty promises or forgettingthat there are other aspects to be negotiated in this Agreement".In addition, the CGT also focuses these strikes on the users, explaining that"the lack of personnel causes a poor service, when a public service is essentialto respond to the interests of citizens effectively", for which they demand anincrease in the places in the next Renfe Public Employment Offer, "these placesshould cover all vacant positions and avoid the suppression of trains, theclosure of stations and the deterioration of the railway service". They continueto report how the lack of train drivers causes fewer trains to circulate. Thelack of controllers affects safety on board, since they are responsible for thecorrect provision of the service in train cars, safety in evacuations, transfersand incidents. They also point out that the lack of staff in workshops causes thetrains to run in worse conditions, generating delays and even suppressions, thelack of staff at the ticket office and customer service, causes defenselessnessof users, endless queues, closure of ticket offices, ghost stations ,misinformation and poor service at the stations and the lack of staff at theManagement Centers is also very worrying and directly affects the resolution ofincidents. For these reasons, CGT informs that they have agreed, despite the pre-agreementreached on Friday morning by the majority unions with the company, to continuewith the mobilizations to achieve the demands of the Grupo-Renfe railway staff, since "this pre-agreement consolidates the loss of purchasing power and does notpalliate any social claim regarding the public service and users".CGT makes an "appeal to the staff to support the strikes called to prevent theother unions from signing a 3-year agreement, which does not include realimprovements in the working conditions of railway workers but which doesguarantee them a fictitious social peace " and summons concentrations in Valenciaon the 7th and 11th, coinciding with the strikes, at the Estació del Nord, from12:00 to 1:30 p.m.Contact:Juan Ramón Ferrandis Bresó (Railway, S.G.
