Black people in general are affected by murder, mass incarceration and the worst
jobs, generally those who are less qualified and earn less, whether in formal orinformal work. The reality is that working black women and working black men areexploited because they are workers and oppressed because they are black andfemale. ---- Black people have been through a true genocide. In the last tenyears alone, more than 400,000 black men and women have been murdered. Mortalityrates for black women are 65.8% higher than for non-black women. Brazil has 2.7%of the planet's inhabitants and 20.4% of homicides, 77.9% of which are black, themajority between 12 and 29 years old. Black men represent 77% of homicide victimsin the country. Practically out of every 10 murders, 8 are against black men.This in a population that just over half is black. Lethal violence against blackpeople was 162% higher than among non-black people. Likewise, black womenaccounted for 66.0% of all women murdered in BrazilIn prisons we have over 820,000 people crammed into prisons, mostly working classand black. The majority of people arrested are young black men: 46.4% ofprisoners are between 18 and 29 years old and 67.5% are of black color/race. Overthe last few years, the percentage of the black population incarcerated hasincreased. If in 2011, 60.3% of the incarcerated population was black and 36.6%white, in 2021, the ratio was 67.5% black prisoners to 29.0% white.Until June 2019, most prisoners across the country had committed drug-relatedcrimes, such as trafficking, criminal association, inducing drug use, among othercrimes. There were 304,000 prisoners in this category, 39.4% of the total. Nextcome crimes against property, responsible for the incarceration of 284,000prisoners in the country, 36.7% of the total. Crimes against the person, such ashomicide, abortion, threat, domestic violence and assisting suicide, amongothers, correspond to 11.3% of the total number of prisoners up to June lastyear, 88 thousand people. In addition, 28.5% of the prison population are inpre-trial detention, still without trial. Data showing that incarceration is muchmore related to crimes against property, generally without physical violence.That is, the prisoners are black men who have committed some type of crimeagainst property or through the sale of drugs. But at the same time, it is blackmen who are murdered and there is no clarification on these cases. This entireincarcerated population ends up largely served as a recruiting and cheap laborforce for criminal factions.In the labor market, inequalities persist. Unemployment is higher in black menand women. Working conditions and wages are also the worst among black people,especially among women. The difficulties that black women face in the labormarket are visible. In the second quarter of 2022, they experienced anunemployment rate of 13.9%. For black men, the rate was 8.7%; for non-blackwomen, 8.9%; and for non-black men, the lowest rate was observed, 6.1%. Earningsaverages also prove inequality in pay by race/color. Whites earn, on average,more than blacks. In the second quarter of 2022, while non-black men earned BRL3,708 and white women, BRL 2,774, black workers earned, on average, BRL 1,715,and black men, BRL 2,142. These numbers indicate that the black woman received,in 2022, 46.3% of the income received by the white man. For black men, thisproportion was 58.8%. (DIEESE)Governments never tire of increasing resources for the militarization of society.There is never a lack of money to kill and arrest. Bankers, investors and therural bourgeoisie always have the State at their disposal to increase theirwealth and continue capitalism and racism. Increased police force, weapons andequipment are always defended by left and right politicians. Meanwhile, socialinvestment is lacking, mainly for full employment and to help those who leave theprison system, who have even less chance in an unequal society. The autonomous and combative black movement has already shown theway: a) overcoming the ideology of state tutelage, fostered by the state and bythe line of Social-Democratic Unionism, such as the "Don't Vote, Reaja" campaign;b) to encourage self-defense in the workplace, housing, study and leisure as away of developing basic associations; and c) occupation of territories with thecreation of networks of solidarity and popular self-defense among unions,community collectives, students and anti-discriminatory social movements.It is essential that workers unite in the class struggle against the boss, but itis essential that white workers support and embrace the special demands of Blackwomen and Black men and other non-white peoples as belonging to the entireworking class. The white working class has to take the class-conscious,anti-racist stand; to unite the entire working class. Black and white workersmust assume and support the demands of the anti-patriarchal struggle. Thus,directly confront and overthrow the Capitalist State and its rulers. We don'twant crumbs and for some of our people to become those who will oppress andexploit us.
