Naly here – I'm an LGBT+ activist from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Earlier this year, a group of trans women in my country were brutally harassed by people in their town. Just because of their identities, they were given the choice between a life of forced labor or being burned at the stake.
They had no choice but to flee for their lives.
My team and I started a petition with All Out, calling for attention to this story and demanding that the lives of these women be protected. I had no idea what this would lead to!
Pretty soon, our petition took off and developed into an emergency crowdfunding campaign. In just a few days, All Out members raised enough funds to provide rent, food and security for this group of women in need. It was the most incredible thing I have ever seen!
As we head into 2023, LGBT+ people here are still at risk, and we need to keep up the fight for our lives, with the support from this beautiful, global community.

In our country, LGBT+ people are commonly associated with satanism and dark witchcraft. I've encountered LGBT+ people who have been beaten in the streets, chased away from their homes, or denied critical life services. It can really leave you feeling hopeless and powerless.
But this year, the All Out movement gave us hope and power. THANK YOU for having our backs, getting this story out, and jumping into action to make sure these women were protected and taken care of during this dire emergency.
