With the participation of 10,000 demonstrators, the afternoon demonstration of
anger and memory was completed today, on the day of the 14th anniversary of thestate murder of the 15-year-old anarchist student Alexandros Grigoropoulos. Inthe morning of the same day, students demonstrated in the center of the city.---- This year's march was not just an anniversary event. It was a reminder toall of the oppressive nature of the state, which continues to kill. This isdemonstrated by the murderous attempt by the police against the 16-year-old Roma,Kostas Fragoulis, in western Thessaloniki, who is hospitalized in an extremelycritical condition in Hippocrates, while today there was no information about hishealth status to his family. Also, the state, through the media propagandamechanisms, systematically attempts to cover up the state murders and theincidents of police arbitrariness, falsifying the facts through the officialannouncements of the EL.AS., which are reproduced on the authority of the regimemedia.In the afternoon march, the Freedom Initiative of Thessaloniki formed ananarchist bloc together with the Pyranthos Anarchist Group. Our block's bannerread the following slogan: "MURDERER COPS. No December ever ended. The fightagainst STATE and CAPITAL continues...". The pulse of the block was dynamic.People were constantly shouting anti-repressive and anti-state slogans. Intoday's demonstration, the anarchist and anti-authoritarian blocs wereparticularly massive, with a dynamic pulse and organized guards. Thedemonstration, starting from Kamara, marched along Ethniki Amyni, Tsimiski,Venizelou, Egnatia streets and ended in Kamara. Along the way, the Open Assemblyof Anarchists for the formation of a single block on December 6, which precededthe demonstration, the Anarchist Political Organization, the Free Social SpaceSchool and the Anti-authoritarian Movement of Thessaloniki also formed blocks.Behind the anarchist and anti-authoritarian blocs followed blocs of theorganizations of the extra-parliamentary left. After the end of the march inKamara, a large body of the demonstration marched towards the upper center of thecity, where extensive clashes took place against the repression forces.State power is based on violence. That is why the state continues to kill, asevidenced by the murder attempt by cops against 16-year-old Roma, KostasFragoulis, one year after the state-run murder of 21-year-old Roma, NikosSampanis in Perama. The state, while imposing poverty and destitution,simultaneously intensifying the exploitation and disenfranchisement of those atthe bottom, simultaneously intensifies repression and provides political andcommunication cover to its repressive arm, resulting in the demoralization of thepolice force and the continuous incidents of police arbitrariness. The staterealizes that the sharpening of class antagonisms requires the upgrading ofrepression, in order to deal with the generalized social discontent and anger.That is why, while the shooting in the head of 16-year-old Kostas Fragoulishappened, one day before the anniversary of the state murder of AlexandrosGrigoropoulos, a one-time payment of 600 euros was voted in the Parliament forthe police officers as thanks for their "offered services". This is the cretinismof power. This system of oppression, exploitation and injustice can only bereproduced through violence. And through violence it will be overthrown, becausethe rulers are not going to accept to lose their privileges and power in apeaceful way.On the contrary, the social base must respond to the intensifying brutality ofthe state and capital.
