Russian state has taken further steps to suppress the remaininganti-authoritarians in the country. ---- At the end of August 2022, 6 comradeswere arrested in the cities of Tyumen, Yekaterinburg and Surgut: Kirill Brik,Deniz Aidyn, Yuri Neznamov, Danil Chertykov, Nikita Oleinik and Roman Paklin.Within a few days after the arrest, all 6 guys were tortured: with water,beatings and electric shock. By a court decision, all six were placed in apre-trial detention center on charges of organizing a terrorist community orparticipating in it. In the decision to open a criminal case, the authorities saythat the defendants were engaged in "destructive activities", felt "hatred forthe political system" and were "preparing to overthrow the government." Comradesface from 5 to 20 years in prison.The Russian state tried a similar scheme in the "Network case" against anarchistsand anti-fascists from Penza and St. Petersburg in 2017, using torture to extractnecessary testimony. It has become a normalized tool for law enforcement use inRussia.
