Every November 25, the International Day against violence against women is
celebrated, in commemoration of the murder of the Mirabal sisters by the Trujillodictatorship in 1960; for their political actions in defense of freedom, theywere imprisoned, tortured, raped and murdered. ---- On a day like today, wedenounce the use of our bodies as a territory of conquest, ---- we denounce thesituation of migrant women, of women who live in precariousness and poverty, oftrans women and of women who escape the imposed norms, of women withdisabilities; exposed to all kinds of abuse and violence. ---- We denounce thatviolence against women is one of the mechanisms used by states and capital toperpetuate the control and subjugation of women. The patriarchy, essential tomaintain the established order.We denounce that machismo is not just a word, it is a way of acting, of being andof thinking in the world, which favors inequalities, propping up patriarchy.We denounce the socially normalized aggressions and violence that are transmittedfrom generation to generation that women endure in this patriarchal society.We denounce what is worrying and the setback that more and more young people andadolescents can lead us to deny the existence of sexist violence, the result ofthe rise of the most reactionary ultra-right.We denounce the hypocrisy of institutional and punitive feminism, which seeks toresolve what are structural violence through the police and jail, withoutfocusing on the capitalist, sexist and patriarchal system, the true cause andperpetrator of the inequalities, discrimination and violence in which we live. women.We denounce economic violence, the wage gap, employment discrimination and sexualharassment, and ultimately the labor exploitation that precariousness entails.We denounce that the focus continues to be placed on us, instead of on theaggressor, on those who tolerate or on those who look the other way.We denounce the power that is given to the church within education and within thegoverning bodies, strengthening misogynist behaviors and educating women ininferiority with respect to men.We will not look the other way, we will confront and combat gender violence withall the tools at our disposal, training, feminist self-defense, mutual supportand direct action.On a day like today, we want to remember institutional violence, which can sendsix women unionists to jail for defending a working woman who was being exploitedand harassed at her workplace. Defending ourselves from the sexist violence thatwomen experience also has punishment.And we also keep in mind, for 25 years now, in our collective memory, Ana Oranteswho on December 17 was murdered by her ex-partner, with whom she was forced tolive under the same roof, spraying her with gasoline after having the courage toto speak publicly about the torture he suffered for 40 years. That day, thiscountry began to recognize the victims and sexist violence, which did not existbefore.But there is still a long way to go in which we are not going to take a step back.They want us alone and submissive, but they will find us united and combative inthe face of all sexist violence.
