 A project to welcome exiles arouses passions in Callac in the Côtes d'Armor. The

extreme right tries to make an example of civilizational war but the "Red Trégor"
resists. ---- The Horizon project is a social reception, integration and local
development project which is to open its doors in a former college in Callac
(Côtes d'Armor). The place will host associations and public services (childhood
youth center, coworking, cinema, childminders, crèche). And, among all the
actions proposed, a project to welcome and integrate refugees. ---- A very very
right-wing opposition ---- Opposition to the Horizon project was first expressed
on the Internet last April, in particular via the identity site Breizh-info.com,
then quickly organized itself in June through the constitution of an association.
To set the tone, it is chaired by Catherine Blein, excluded from the RN after a
slightly too conspicuous tweet praising an extreme right-wing attack (which then
earned her a conviction) and now a member of Reconquest. The mobilization is also
quickly monopolized by the party of Zemmour.

Main organizer of a first demonstration on September 17, Reconquête then
dispatched its vice-president Guillaume Peltier to Callac for a " film-debate "
on October 19, then its honorary president, the media Gilbert Collard, to a new
demonstration. November 5.

That day, alongside Reconquête, there were also several personalities such as the
very Islamophobic and conspiratorial Christine Tasin (Republican Resistance) and
Pierre Cassen (Secular Response) but also two signatories of the so-called "
generals " tribune Jean-Pierre Fabre-Bernadac (former member of the FN security
service) and General André Coustou (director of the far-right association Mayors
for the Common Good), identity leaders from the Angevine Youth, fundamentalist
activists from Civitas, Petainists from the Party of France, Breton Fascists, etc.

As for the RN, if it has of course taken a stand against the project, it is
cautiously keeping away from the agitation, not being able to afford to lag
behind Reconquest and jeopardize its work of demonization. by associating with
groups that are too sulphurous. Finally, the pressure from the far right is also
expressed in a more "clandestine" way.

Many death threats have been made against elected officials and xenophobic tags
in Breton have flourished in the town. How to explain such an investment ? The
point is, Project Horizon is the epitome of a "problem to solve" for the far right.

Distorting the reality of the project, they instrumentalize it and hang on to it
all their obsessions to feed the conspiratorial and fallacious narrative of the
great replacement: civilizational war, national preference. But also a conspiracy
of globalized elites imposing immigration, personified here by the Cohen family
(funder of the project) and demonstrating, in passing, that this smoky " theory "
also has an anti-Semitic basis[1].

Brittany has the reputation of being a land of solidarity, and it does not come
from nowhere. As far as Callac is concerned, the refugee families (38 people)
already present do not disturb anyone, on the contrary.

For an open and united Brittany
The private financing of the project, via the Merci foundation, is open to
criticism and raises the question of the State's disengagement with regard to
access to public services in rural areas and, more specifically, with regard to
the reception of exiles. But it responds to a social emergency and it is in this
capacity that we defend it, while campaigning for the development of public
solidarity capable of meeting the needs instead of this bourgeois charity.

Brittany has the reputation of being a land of solidarity, and it does not come
from nowhere. In Callac, the refugee families already present do not disturb
anyone, on the contrary.
Rather than trying to find out who the crumbs of public money go to, let's take
back the wealth that has been stolen from us and which is concentrated in the
pockets of an ultra-minority of capitalists. Rather than dividing our social camp
and fighting among ourselves for a job, housing or a place in a school, let's
unite to ensure that everyone has access to it and in dignified living conditions.

Those responsible for social and environmental problems are to be found in the
opulent living rooms of the government and in the boards of directors of the
capitalists, not among those who flee the misery, the war and the climatic
disturbances from which these same bourgeoises and bourgeois seek to draw profit.

Responding to the call of residents of Callac and its surroundings, the unitary
anti-fascist response was there to massively oppose the far right, bringing
together many collectives, unions, various organizations, elected officials. es
and individuals.

The last demonstration mobilized nearly 800 people (300 on the facho side) by
articulating various speeches, fest-deiz (Breton festival) and departure in a
more offensive procession. However, this kind of far-right action is likely to
develop elsewhere.

The words of Gilbert Collard are clear in this respect: " if we win our case,
that will mean that, almost everywhere in France, we find the right to speak. It
is up to us to build an immediate, massive and united response capable of
stopping the fascist dynamic.

Self-defense at the rendezvous, counter-attack to be built
Let us also ask ourselves strategic questions. Many of our actions take place in
reaction to those of the far right, as the example of Callac shows. We hear their
ideas a lot, we react to them a lot, but when do we get heard ? Admittedly, these
actions already take a lot of time and energy and are essential.

But what kind of movement do we want? How can we reverse this balance of power to
advance our ideas and no longer suffer from theirs? One thing is certain: it is
when we are on the offensive on issues of social justice that the far right is
inaudible. Social battles are looming, an opportunity for us to regain control in
this anxiety-provoking climate.
