As of Wednesday (1/3), the population of Curitiba will have to pay an absurd BRL
6.00 in the public transport fare, one of the most expensive tickets in Brazil!---- If, for some, 50 cents of increase may seem little, for workers who dependon public transport this amount means one more obstacle in the daily struggle fora dignified life - and, above all for peripheral youth, means their exclusionfrom the right to the city and access to all other rights, such as health, education, culture and leisure. No wonder it was precisely the transport agendathat sparked the popular uprisings of 2013, which overturned fares in severalcities, such is its importance to the people!Since then, there have been many times that we, male and female workers, havebeen harmed by abusive and unjustified increases in the value of the ticket, which weigh heavily on our pockets at the end of the month, but which fatten thepockets of a mafia of businessmen that profits more and more from a right thatshould belong to everyone, but which becomes an expense similar to or evengreater than the amount spent by Brazilian families on food, thus making freecirculation unfeasible. After all, who never stopped taking the bus for someactivity because they didn't have money? In addition, we are tired of knowing that these increases do not reflect on thequality of transport nor on the improvement in working conditions and wages ofworkers in the category, who have already suffered from massive dismissals ofcollectors since the use of the card became mandatory in most bus lines.Ensuring free transport for the entire population is nothing more than our right,in view of the huge municipal and state subsidies that already exist for thetransport mafia and the evidence of irregularities in the contract with transportcompanies and overpricing of the fare appointed by the Court of Auditors and theCPI of Transport. However, it is not in the interest of governments to break offmutual financing with these mafias, since many of them finance their politicalcampaigns. Therefore, instead of moving towards a model of free transport, we seethe profits of transport companies being increased at our expense! However, the people already know the only means capable of imposing limits to thethirst for profit and power of businessmen and governments: the popular revolt, like the one that took to the streets of hundreds of Brazilian cities 10 yearsago. That's why we, from The Other Campaign - Paraná, call on everyone to revoltand mobilize against this attack. Soon we will post more information about acts. For the right to the city!By public transport, free and quality!IF THE RATE DOESN'T LOWER, CURITIBA WILL STOP!https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=531854599035798&set=a.431269525760973_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
