Whatever the outcome of the motion of no confidence, there is a window of
opportunity to be seized. The political crisis creates instability. Instabilitybrings opportunities. But it provides opportunities for all political forces thathave an interest in overthrowing this power. If we do not want to suffer thesituation, we must maintain and amplify the mobilization. ---- On March 16, 2023,the government used Article 49.3 to force through its anti-social pension reform. There was probably too few votes from deputies worried about the massiverejection of the project by their voters. It was our large-scale mobilizationsthat opened an unprecedented political crisis.Indeed, the large inter-union held. The strikes were important, although tooinfrequently renewed, the demonstrations brought together millions of people. Inconnection with the "retirement" movement, feminist mobilizations and the firstbreakthrough of a feminist strike on March 8 were also notable successes. We put Macron in the minority and forced him to use this particularlyanti-democratic tool, which exposes and weakens him.Demonstrations, called by unions but also largely spontaneous, erupted acrossFrance following the announcement, despite increased police repression. We haveno illusions about parliamentarism. We are not expecting a solution from thedeputies. But this political crisis has impacts on our mobilization and on our class. At this time, we do not know the outcome of the vote on the motion of censure onMonday March 20, but whatever its outcome, if we do not want to suffer thesituation, we must maintain and amplify the mobilization. Two scenarios are possible:If the motion is passed, the law is withdrawn, the government falls, thepolitical crisis escalates. It will then be necessary to take advantage of thiscrisis to start new battles. On the issue of wages, particularly at the center ofconcerns in view of galloping inflation. If the motion is not passed, the law is maintained, the anger remains immense inthe country. It is then necessary to count on this anger to relaunch themobilizations. A voted law can be withdrawn, as during the mobilization againstthe CPE in 2006. It will be necessary to use the date of March 23, carried by theinter-union, as the first day of rebound. And hammering that any trade unionconfederation which would abandon the fight, would see itself carrying a heavyresponsibility. In both cases, a central fact remains: during this mobilization, we have garneredforces. Unionization is on the rise again, workers have raised their heads forthe first time, talked to each other at breaks, after work, in general meetings, have gone on strike, joined the demonstrations. In the demonstrations, they andthey were in contact with trade union and political organizations, discussed, debated, were able to locally experiment with frameworks of self-organization,saw their vision of the world renewed. The same balance of power must prevail against Darmanin's Immigration Law, inorder to immediately rebound on a central issue for the unity of our socialclass. Saturday, March 25 will be an important day of mobilization against thislaw. This issue is all the more important in a context potentially favorable tothe far right, which will have voted for the motion of censure. In both cases too, there is a window of opportunity to seize. The politicalcrisis creates instability. Instability brings opportunities. But it providesopportunities for all political forces that have an interest in overthrowing thispower. The far right is in ambush; his victory would have terrible consequencesfor our social class, for racialized people, for women, for LGBTI people...Our camp, the camp of the workers, the camp of the class struggle, must takeadvantage of this to strengthen and organize itself. In particular, by rebuildingcombative and democratic trade union tools which must be part of the broaderframework of the self-organization of struggles. So, let's be on the offensive, let's take advantage of the weakened power topropose a real transformation of society!Declaration of the federal coordination of UCL meeting in Lyon on March 19, 2023https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?49-3-Bouscule-par-les-greves-Macron-tire-sa-derniere-cartouche_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
