farm in Europe. This salmon farming factory is a project of the company Pure
Salmon, based in Abu Dhabi and financed by a Singaporean hedge fund. It would

represents an investment of 275 million euros for shareholders.
The project initially wanted to settle in Boulogne-sur-Mer, and several
institutions had warned of the risks of these aquaculture facilities. The
Regional Environmental Authority Mission (MRAe) of Hauts-de-France had identified
risks of ignition and explosion.

Risks also concern the environment and public health. The plant will discharge
2,200 cubic meters of wastewater per day in the area of a natural park and in a
Natura 2000 Zone.The MRAe even identifies the risks of toxic discharges and
ammonia. Oyster farming and artisanal fishing in the sector will be affected. In
addition, the 900 tons of sludge and excrement produced each month will be
treated by anaerobic digestion, a technique that poses environmental risks such
as methane leaks and nitrous oxide emissions.

The first filling of the pools will require pumping the equivalent of 80 Olympic
swimming pools. And the continual renewal of water represents the equivalent of
one year of irrigation of one hectare of market gardening every day, while the
Médoc was in water stress this summer and water restriction orders had been

disease and cannibalism. This increased animal suffering is due to the desire to
make the investment costs more profitable.

Pure Salmon is the quintessence of a system that must be rejected altogether,
