region since 2014, but more generally of the inter-imperialist clash in the
global crisis of relations among the powers. ---- For decades we were told that
there would only be humanitarian missions, surgical warfare and smart bombs. In
reality, war has always been one of the main tools for regulating relations
between states, even in the most recent phase of globalization of capitalism
which, according to the fable, was supposed to bring peace. The invasion of
Ukraine was a turning point because for a year war has been fought in the open
field, with armored vehicles and infantry, sieges of cities and bombings. In the
meat grinder of Ukraine along a 2500 km front there are hundreds of dead every
day, with peaks exceeding a thousand.

It is no longer a question of an asymmetric war, of counter-guerrilla warfare.
Because even if the military power of the two countries is not balanced, surely
two modern, technologically advanced armies are confronted, with potential access
- at least in their respective alliances - to any type of weapon, even nuclear.
Certainly the powers, in order to empty their arsenals, also deploy old wrecks on
the battlefields. But with this year of conflict, the possibility of large-scale
warfare between armies in the 21st century has in fact been proven and normalized.

 From Germany to Japan, from Sweden to Italy, rearmament is financed with
mountains of billions. The official media speak of ammunition shortages, they say
that NATO arsenals risk remaining empty due to the intensity of the clash in
Ukraine. Whether it's true or not doesn't matter. It is however propaganda that
serves to implement the war economy.

Who will pay for all this? It will be the exploited and oppressed classes of the
whole world who will have to pay the debts contracted by governments for
rearmament, who will become disciplined labor in the service of war, who will be
sent to the slaughterhouse to fight.

There are those who say that it is not easy to talk about the war in Ukraine,
that it is difficult to take sides, that it is a divisive issue. But we know that
it is the governments that with war aim to divide populations, aim at dividing
the exploited classes, the proletarians, in the name of a church, a language, a
nation. War is only divisive for those who believe the lies of governments.
Taking a stand is actually very simple, the exploited classes have only to lose
from the war, internationalist solidarity, anti-militarism and defeatism are the
tools we have at our disposal to stop the war and open up revolutionary prospects
in the crisis of the imperialist powers.

These are some of the ideas with which the anarchist movement will be in the
squares on February 24 and 25 in many cities including Turin, Pisa, Livorno and
Niscemi.

We will also demonstrate solidarity with all deserters, conscientious objectors
and defeatists in Ukraine as well as in Russia and Belarus. With those who are
imprisoned in those countries because they fight against the war.

The first objective is to force the Italian government to desist from its
warmongering policy. Currently, state secrecy is even placed on the sending of
weapons to Ukraine, while of the 12,000 soldiers engaged in international
missions in 2022, over a quarter were deployed in Eastern Europe close to the
Ukrainian border. On February 24th and 25th we take to the streets. Let's stop
the war, let's start here.
