Because there will be no anarchist May Day demonstration this year, we call for a
militant bloc to be formed at the traditional DGB demonstration. This begins at11 a.m. on the square of the Old Synagogue and will move from there to theWestfalenpark. Here's the call. ---- More than 3.5 million people - pupils,students, workers, the unemployed and pensioners - took part in the lastcross-industry strike days in our neighboring country France. Large parts of theeconomy were paralyzed. There were clashes with the police on the streets. Macronand his government tremble at the power of the unions, which have united in adetermined fight against neoliberal pension reform.Industrial disputes are also currently taking place here in Germany in varioussectors. Whether on the train, at the post office, in the clinics or in thedaycare centers - there have been strikes everywhere in the last few weeks. Thefight for higher wages is more than justified in view of the widespreadinflation. In most sectors, it is no more than a simple adjustment for inflation.Nevertheless, politicians and the press are rushing all cylinders against thestrikes. We will not be taken in by the representatives and writers of theemployer side! We are in solidarity with all strikers!But it is also clear that the course taken by the union leaders so far leavesmuch to be desired. Instead of showing a clear edge against the employer side,DGB boss Yasmin Fahimi seeks dialogue with the government and capital and at thesame time declares that now is not the time for "anti-capitalist fundamentaldebates". Instead of using strong, cross-industry strikes to enforce the demands,one warning strike follows the next. And instead of letting the basetransparently and democratically decide on the course, lousy compromises arenegotiated in the back room or, like at the post office, the results ofdemocratic votes are undermined. We will certainly not be able to enforce ourdemands like this!It takes a completely different way. We have "warned" employers enough. It's timethey felt some real pressure! If we look at France, then we see what works:Cross-industry strikes, democratic co-determination of the base and a clear edgeagainst the employers' side!This system, which plunges the world into wars and crises, has had its day. It isnot only high time for "anti-capitalist fundamental debates", but for a tradeunion movement that fights for a fundamental change in the situation, forovercoming capitalism. We must give up the rotten compromise of the alleged"social partnership"!For this perspective, we will take to the streets alongside our colleagues on May1st. We call on you to join us in the militant block at the DGB demonstration!Please bring appropriate signs, banners and flags!
