May 1st is a very important date for the international labor movement, both for
its history and its present. ---- Date to commemorate the comrades who weremurdered in Chicago for the worthy claim of 8 hours to work, 8 for leisure and 8for sleep. Claim motivated by the conviction that the capitalist system could notcontinue to increase its profits at the expense of the exploitation of workers.---- Today we have new problems to face as a working class, but we continue touphold the emancipatory ideal promulgated by those Chicago workers, and we refuseto believe that this battle is over.We support the international character of this contest, because, just as thecapitalists and their exploitation have no limits regarding the political bordersthat divide the world, international solidarity between workers should not haveit either, since it is the tool that will allow us to be able to emancipateourselves from this economic system based on the exploitation of our workforce.ARGENTINAIn Argentina, the reality we live in is going from bad to worse, and it doesn'tseem to improve for the future. What is currently on the lips of every worker isthe loss of purchasing power that is suffered, a product mostly of unbridledinflation. Although there are equal updates every year, it has been 10 yearssince the negotiations have not recovered the purchasing power lost due toinflation. Obviously, this situation did not change in the last years of the"popular" government. Faced with this situation, the proposal arises to put openparities on the agenda, where salary updates are negotiated month by monthaccording to the degree of inflation, since the result of this situation is that29% of workers are in a situation of poverty.This blow to wages is accompanied by a sharp increase in the price of food,services such as transportation, as well as the rates for basic services, such asgas, electricity, and water. This situation is pushing many to turn to the searchfor a second income, such as precarious jobs mediated by the new delivery andtransportation apps, thus losing the leisure and rest time that originated theclaim for the 8 working hours. .We see the ways in which precariousness materializes in the workplace intemporary contracts, where the renewal or loss of employment is an uncertainty;outsourced companies, which are managed with poor working conditions; flexibleschedules, which tie the worker to the needs of the company, thus preventing himfrom being able to plan his life; be outside the collective bargaining agreement;requirements of the monotributo, which is used by many companies as a method sothat all the contributions as well as their rights are outside theirresponsibility. These are some of the forms that have been imposed on us for years.Finally, the most explicit form of precariousness is the strong growth ofunregistered work, in which workers are left out of all the labor conquestsobtained. It is estimated that 45% of workers are in this situation. It is analert to the labor organizations of how progress was made on the conquests thathad been obtained for the group of workers. These very poor conditions that aregiving us every day are increasing more, accustoming us to being a disposableworkforce.In this economic context, our federation seeks to build a union tool for allworkers, where we can face the conditions that businessmen and large capitalistcorporations seek to impose on us. We support a federalist, horizontal and directaction perspective as organizational and struggle strategies, and the ideologicalfinalism of anarchic communism as a guide to build a society without exploitation.BRAZILIn Brazil the conditions of the working class continue to be terrible, especiallyfor black workers. Many of them work in domestic and care services. The majorityof workers in Brazil are in the informal market, without a work contract and withalmost no labor rights. There is 44% of the working population that is in thepopular and subsistence economy. There are 35.9 million Brazilians employed withall the labor guarantees that employment with a work contract ensures through awork card in the country. In addition, more than 70% of the workers and workersearn a minimum wage, 260 dollars. The Temer government (2016-2018) made a laborreform that made contracts even worse, benefiting employers and the currentgovernment of the Workers' Party (PT) will not try to reverse it. In Brazil todaythere are 1.5 million App workers.The conditions of misery and violence increase in the favelas, peripheries and inthe Brazilian countryside. Agribusiness and mining in the country advance on thecerrado and the Amazon, destroying biodiversity and the territory of the peasant,indigenous, quilombo, riverside and extractivist peoples. The violence to takethese lands is carried out legally and illegally, always with the coexistence ofthe State. In 2022, there were 47 murders, 123 assassination attempts, and 1,065wounded and injured in the Brazilian countryside.In the favelas and on the periphery, violence by the police, paramilitary groupsand criminal factions victimizes the Brazilian black working youth. The latestofficial data, from 2019, are 50,000 homicides in the country, 51.3% victimizedyoung people between 15 and 29 years of age. Blacks make up 77% of homicidevictims. There were also more than 3,737 cases of violence against women, 66% ofblack women. Brazil is the country with the highest number of murders of theLGBTI+ population with 276 homicides (92% of the total) and 24 suicides (8%) lastyear.
