The Tavini huira 'atira, a Tahitian independence party, won the second round of
the Polynesian regional elections on April 30, 2023. ----The electoral victory ofthe Tavini has its roots in the struggles against French colonization, againstthe exploitation of local resources and against nuclear testing. It is also apopular outburst, despite electoral clientelism, against dizzying socialinequalities in a country where taxes are non-existent.
