not forget this caring comrade. ---- She was a cheerful, very endearing woman,
who always seemed much younger than her age. Yvonne Rocomaure was a member of
Alternative Libertaire in Montreuil until around 2017. For more than twelve
years, she had also been one of those "little hands" who, in the shadows, allowed
AL to function efficiently. We met her regularly at the federal office, printing
leaflets, circulars, putting in envelopes, shipping newspapers... Of British
origin - she was born in Blackpool in 1944 -, she also did translations, and
occasionally published articles in Alternative Libertaire, as in 2008-2009, on
the struggles of American women workers against the Wal-Mart brand.

Yvonne had met the activists of AL as part of the collective Act against
unemployment! (AC!) in 1994, then European marches against unemployment. She was
active in the AC  collective! Paris 19-20e, where she was very popular, and took
part in the AC ! User manuals on Radio FPP.

She died at her home in Montreuil in December 2022 at the age of 78. In her
address at the funeral, her friend Odile Merckling said: " Yvonne did not know
her father, a French soldier who had joined De Gaulle in London during the Second
World War. Shortly after Yvonne was born in 1945, he left for Australia to pursue
his military career. His mother had refused to follow him. Yvonne was brought up
in a boarding school in the English countryside, seeing her mother from time to
time. She had a somewhat sad childhood and did not study much. As an adult, she
found herself in precarious conditions and had difficulty surviving. She
preferred to come to France and finally decided to settle there, while Margaret
Thatcher was in government in Great Britain. Despite her difficulties, she was a
person who was always cheerful, kind, caring towards everyone, very lively. In
addition, she was a feminist and she was always concerned with helping the poor.
