An activist of British origin, involved in the movement of unemployed and
precarious women, the former and former members of Alternative libertarian willnot forget this caring comrade. ---- She was a cheerful, very endearing woman, who always seemed much younger than her age. Yvonne Rocomaure was a member ofAlternative Libertaire in Montreuil until around 2017. For more than twelveyears, she had also been one of those "little hands" who, in the shadows, allowedAL to function efficiently. We met her regularly at the federal office, printingleaflets, circulars, putting in envelopes, shipping newspapers... Of Britishorigin - she was born in Blackpool in 1944 -, she also did translations, andoccasionally published articles in Alternative Libertaire, as in 2008-2009, onthe struggles of American women workers against the Wal-Mart brand.Yvonne had met the activists of AL as part of the collective Act againstunemployment! (AC!) in 1994, then European marches against unemployment. She wasactive in the AC collective! Paris 19-20e, where she was very popular, and tookpart in the AC ! User manuals on Radio FPP.She died at her home in Montreuil in December 2022 at the age of 78. In heraddress at the funeral, her friend Odile Merckling said: " Yvonne did not knowher father, a French soldier who had joined De Gaulle in London during the SecondWorld War. Shortly after Yvonne was born in 1945, he left for Australia to pursuehis military career. His mother had refused to follow him. Yvonne was brought upin a boarding school in the English countryside, seeing her mother from time totime. She had a somewhat sad childhood and did not study much. As an adult, shefound herself in precarious conditions and had difficulty surviving. Shepreferred to come to France and finally decided to settle there, while MargaretThatcher was in government in Great Britain. Despite her difficulties, she was aperson who was always cheerful, kind, caring towards everyone, very lively. Inaddition, she was a feminist and she was always concerned with helping the poor.A heartfelt greeting to Yvonne, from the comrades who knew her at AL !Guillaume (UCL Montreuil)https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Necrologie-Yvonne-Rocomaure-tes-camarades-te-saluent_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
