The election of the new PD secretary can be read from different points of view:
internal, external and general.Let's start from the inside. The PD is a partyevaporated, or the next stage to the liquid party much praised in past years. Soevaporated that the leadership group not only chooses, once again, to haveoutsiders elect the secretary (a fashion that seemed to have passed after thedevastating experience of Renzism, where it was demonstrated that this was theway to demolish the party) but also he doesn't even realize that he has proposedas his own candidate a figure that is also disliked by his family. And so,punctually, the secretary or rather the secretary (members of the DemocraticParty for a handful of days) voted for the gazebos, outclasses the name chosen bythe circles. But if a member ("militant" is now too big a word) counts for lessthan a stranger who, by paying 2 euros and signing a generic document, wins theright to choose who will lead the party, what is the point of his presence? Thequestion would arise spontaneously were it not that this phase is now oldhistory. The very concept of party as a structure of subjects uniformed by anideology aimed at the conquest of power is now defunct. And this aspect doesn'teven seem to be raised or even thought about anymore.Within a single system of thought (which like all totalitarian ideologies evendenies the systemic crises it has been experiencing for 15 years) the parties aredivided on surface issues, or, when the hiatus would appear more profound, thisis exposed without ever discussing the system, the capital, which now seems tohave become a "state of nature".So from the internal point of view of the PD, Schlein's victory, howeversympathetic it may be to us or may represent some novelty, fits into thispostmodern and "occasional" context that distinguishes the PD. Yesterday it wasRenzi who "climbed" the party, today she is the young woman who conquers it fromthe outside. With a concept of the role of the secretary as the one, or the one,who "wins" and not who should represent and lead a party in the maximumconvergence (a party should be an association of uniformly thinking subjects andnot the imitation of the Parliament ).Having said (and written) all of this, let's move on to a view from the outside. There is no doubt that Elly Schlein's victory does not represent a real change ofpace (this will remain to be verified). but a clear indication of intolerancetowards the ruling class of the Democratic Party by the variegated world outsidethe party and also, as a logical consequence in the madness of the "openprimaries", by the opponents of that party. An intolerance that the establishmenthas not been able to grasp in any way, now finding itself with a secretariatsplit in half, but whose majority is against the new secretary. In any case, dueto the strange paths that fate chooses, it could also be that this arrival in the"Cesarini area" will avoid the end of the party which by now seemed to be takenfor granted. It is not known whether this will be good or bad. It could also bethe sign of a change, but one that always travels on an impalpable and fragilebasis, based on individual personalities, on marketing, on communication for itsown sake. Yesterday Renzi, today Schlein. On a general level, however, we move in a curious virtual world. Where theright-wing newspapers ("Libero", "Il Giornale" and the radical "La Verità") seein the election of the new secretary no less than a Bolshevik, also representingher with a hooked nose and emphasizing her Jewish origins. Anti-communism (butalso anti-Semitism) is still the true unifying root of the Italian right, evenwhen there is not even a memory of communism left. A world that until recentlytried to tinker with "socialist" arguments (for dupes), but which proves that itjust can't hold back. Curiously, even for the press of the regime it is a turn tothe left, viewed with a little concern and "Repubblica" has already rushed togive the line.Let's clear one thing up. We at Schlein and the PD care rightly and if we talkabout it it is above all because it is a party still voted for by millions ofpeople and which has governed this country in recent years with anyone and webelieve it, as we always have, one of the most harmful subjects for any thoughtof class recomposition and who has endorsed practically every destruction of thesocial conquests of the last 50 years, to exchange them for the nonsense of civilrights that are not even really pursued.History will prove us wrong and the new PD will surely become the bulwark of thereborn social struggle. The article will be reinstated. 18, demolished the school-work alternation, increased health care costs, stopped Fornero, canceled precariousness. All flour of the "democratic" sack to tell the truth. It will be hard for Schleinto convince that it was all wrong, unless the party changes. In short, we are certainly unworthy and cynical, but we would be happy to bewrong if this weren't the umpteenth recitation of a change that is only in thewords, look, approach and packaging of a party that has now become a kind of clubof the smile.Of course, meeting in the "cloud" of Fuksas does not call to mind somethingpopular and that air of eternal first class does not exactly send the crowds intoraptures.Of course, the satisfaction of seeing the terrible ruling class that precededSchlein froth a bit is there, and even the redefinition of positions won't be awalk in the park. But these are still skirmishes for internal use.In the meantime, we will carefully follow this new course full of love, but wecannot prevent Troisi from coming to mind when (in "Groundhog Day from Three") heis told "when there is love, everything is there" he replies ": No, chell' è'Cheers!
