Recently, on May 1, a freight train carrying fuel was blown up in the Bryansk
region, and high-voltage lines in the Leningrad region. Nobody died. At the sametime, the choice of the date, Labor Day, was apparently not accidental. At leastthat's what one Russian anarchist website claimed. The next day, the train wasblown up again around Bryansk. The fact that these types of actions actually takeplace and are not sporadic is evidenced by the fact that the Kremlin hassignificantly tightened the penalties for them in recent months - up to andincluding life imprisonment. ---- Dozens of people are currently imprisoned onthe most serious charges of armed resistance, sabotage and arson. Such actionsare punishable by several years in prison or even life imprisonment. Prisonerscan be helped by: through the Zona Solidarnosti collective.Officially, the Kremlin admits that the number of sabotage and terrorist actionshas increased from one case in 2021 to 21 last year. This is definitelyunderstated. In addition to sabotage actions on the railway, of which there arealready about 30, there are also arson (or attempted arson) of militaryreinforcement commands and other buildings of state authorities. Independentsources say that from the end of February 2022 to the end of March 2023, at least94 such actions took place.Various political forces take part in them, but anarchist organizations andcircles, such as the Combat Organization of Anarcho-Communists, FightingAnarchist, Exhibit of Revolutionary Anarchism, admit to it quite often.Separate manifestations of resistance are video appeals published in social mediaby those mobilized and/or their families, expressing regret that recruits aresent into the trenches for certain garbage without training, proper equipment andcontrary to previous declarations of the authorities. Hundreds of such videoshave appeared online since autumn last year, so that many units have banned theuse of smartphones. Complaints from people who have been recruited into the warmay seem politically naive - what did they expect? Some of the appeals soundquite loyal, others are expressed in a categorical tone. All of them, however,are examples of insubordination that threatens the regime more than many peacefulprotests. It happens that these actions are met with very severe reprisals, notnecessarily in court (e.g. under paragraphs for discrediting the Russian army).At the same time, it should be added that since the beginning of mobilization(end of September 2022), a total of 536 cases have been brought - based onstricter regulations - for unlawful leaving the unit, failure to carry out anorder, desertion, etc. In 247 of them, sentences have already been passed. Mostoften, suspended sentences are imposed, which allows the convicts to be sent backto the front.It should be noted that at the same time, from the start of a full-blown war,numerous peaceful protests took place in Russia. Russian human rightsorganizations counted a total of 19,673 people detained by the police for thisreason. Over 6.5 thousand were issued. misdemeanor cases and over 500 criminalcases. Severe sentences are passed.In a separate article, I also presented data and examples of strikes (50 intotal) and workers' protests. Despite the war, compared to 2021, their numberincreased by 45%. However, they are mainly economic, although they are oftenindirectly related to the situation caused by the war.In this whole context, all the opinions that constantly accuse the Russians ofpassivity or foolish support of the regime sound bizarre. Ignorance andxenophobic prejudices are fueled by the national-liberal media on our side of thefront.
