People with a sense of justice, equality and solidarity have always fought to
improve the conditions of our lives and those that will happen to us. ---- Therewe have the first strike in Egypt 2,200 years ago because the workers did notreceive their rations. The first general strike in Spain was in 1855. The textileworkers requested the right of association or the regulation of their work. Theprogressive government of Espartero turned its back on the Catalan workers andsent the army to massacre the people.Today we are not much further from those times. Unemployment surrounds us. Askfriends and family. Surely we know or know people who live in exclusion, for notbeing able to have a decent job or for chaining rickety jobs. We will hear sirensongs from unpresentable politicians, who live off your efforts and who will tryto deceive you with promises that they will never keep. Misery and povertysurrounds us. Food goes up 10, 20, 30 or 40%. There is no end to their enrichmentat our expense. The increase in electricity, fuel, housing, impoverishes all ofsociety.Does anyone gathered here know how many workers have fallen victim toexploitation in the year 2022? Only in Spain, for your knowledge and that of theexploiters, 826 compañeros/compañeras who were sons, sisters, fathers, grandmothers.We ask ourselves: where is this rampant consumer capitalism taking us? Our planetasks for help and we only see indifference, if not denial of scientific evidence.Species that disappear, lands flooded, forests devastated, waves of cold or heatthat hit the most disadvantaged.What to say about the future of our sweat and the one that preceded us: pensions.Thousands of pensioners have been on the streets for years protesting for you,for me, for all decent people. If we turn our backs on them we will not be worthyof living and we will regret it.Union repression is one of the weapons of the system supported by the government,employers, judges and police. The example of our colleagues, the six fromSwitzerland in Gijón, shows us that union, action and solidarity is morenecessary and effective than ever. They put their body and soul, so that allpeople achieve what the system denies them. For them, for our daughters, mothersand grandmothers, we have plenty of reasonsWe have solutions. As always they have been on the side of the proletariat. Let'sreduce the day to thirty-five hours. Let's work at least four days a week. Ourhealth is priceless. Companies multiply their profits. We demand the maintenanceof our salaries.The only promises we must believe are those of our future in peace and solidarity.As long as we don't face the murders that our colleagues suffer every day intheir jobs, we won't be able to rest, because the next person to die could beyou, or a relative of yours, or a friend of yours.The earth needs us to treat it like a mother who provides us with everything weneed to live: air, water, food, peace of mind. It is necessary to decrease toprotect it and protect ourselvesWithout defending pensions, our future and that of the people who will follow uswill be miserable. We must demand an increase in them, so that our pension isequal to the salary we received when we worked. Because 30-35-40 years of effortmust be rewarded with a dignified life for all the elderly.Let's defend our colleagues, the six from Switzerland, with our favorite weapons:union and solidarityBy them.
