After more than a year of open conflict in Ukraine, the disastrous consequences
of militarism and war are not only being felt, they are getting worse. And it iswe, workers, who pay the consequences of this conflict, whether we are Europeans,Ukrainians or Russians. On the social level, thousands of people are forced toserve as cannon fodder in the war, forced into flight and social uprooting.Economically, the cost is currently reflected in rising prices for energy, goods(mainly basic necessities) and services while wages are still stagnating.Clearly, the workers will pay more for less, the economic powers will exploit useven more to incur the least possible costs and many of them will certainly evenbenefit from the rise in inflation and the rise in prices. .The first beneficiary of war is the military industry. NATO demands increasedfinancing of the arms industry, which implies that companies, as well as bossesand leaders directly or indirectly involved in this sector, will makebillions in profits by supplying war material. The low investment in scientific research that can be allocated to theeradication of diseases, energy self-management or knowledge and protection ofthe planet's ecosystems will again be revised downwards insofar as this is stillpossible for the benefit of the development of technologies applied to the warindustry and their applications for armed conflicts. The increase in the state budget to meet the expectations of the NATO militaryalliance implies less investment in maintaining the "welfare state", reducingsocial rights and accelerating the dismantling health and other services. Itinvolves reserving these basic services for an elite, which will benefit privatelobbies to the detriment of workers and will ensure that only those who canafford it will be able to access the best services. This "elitization" leads to impoverishment, precariousness of workers, increasedsocial exclusion and a significant increase in the inequalities that alreadyexist by definition in capitalist societies. The rise of social discontent due to the acceleration of neoliberal policiesdemanded by the European Union and brought about by the war in Ukraine is leadingstates to seek legal tools to strengthen repression against working people in allfields, as seen in France with the struggles against raising the retirement age.It is not surprising that the PSOE government and Unidas Podemos did not dare torepeal the famous "Gag Law" (Organic Law 4/2015, of March 30, for the Protectionof Citizen Security), since it is the one of the many tools the state has toattack organizations, groups and organized individuals who are politically activeoutside parliamentary political parties and outside organizations supporting theapparatus of capitalist political and economic power. As anarchists, we advocate the demilitarization and disbanding of armies. Webelieve in the practice of solidarity and mutual aid between all working peopleand their political independence vis-à-vis parties and parliamentaryinstitutions. We work for a horizontal society of free federation of producersand consumers based on associated and cooperative work. This is why we willalways denounce the atrocities caused by borders, states, economic and politicalpowers, and the wars that benefit them so much.Against the industry of war and deathAgainst social peace, for solidarity and mutual aid between all workersFor anarchy.
