Dear New Yorkers,
The hottest catering hall in New York is…Gracie Mansion?
Our party-loving mayor has brought weddings to his new home in a big way, presiding over three nuptials at the official residence since taking office.
Mayor Eric Adams doesn’t charge for the space or privilege of using the historic home, spokesperson Fabien Levy told THE CITY. The mayor “has been clear that Gracie Mansion is the people’s house and he wants the public to be able to experience as many events there as possible,” Levy said.

Some other items of note: Last week, Gov. Kathy Hochul unveiled her $229 billion state budget plan. The proposal omits the minimum wage increases for workers and tax hikes for the wealthy that progressives had hoped for. But one city (guess which) is poised to get a lot of what it wanted — from funds for public transit to $1 billion to help with the rise in asylum seekers. Elon Musk's Twitter has produced another casualty: the MTA's Twitter account, which for years provided its 1.3 million followers with close-to-real-time updates about service interruptions and delays. That came to a grinding halt last week, when the MTA told riders they’d have to rely on other channels moving forward — since a newly introduced pricing structure would have charged the MTA $50,000 per month to access Twitter’s application program interface. Now through May 6, a pop-up exhibition of the New York Civil Liberties Union’s “Museum of Broken Windows” features artists exploring the toll policing has taken on New Yorkers. The show in SoHo is titled “29 Million Dreams,” which organizers say represents the $29 million spent on the police department every day. We’re just getting started covering this year’s local City Council races. Primary Day is June 27! And we want to make our reporting better with your help. What are your questions about voting, your ballot or local campaigns? Text “Election” to THE CITY’s team at (718) 215-9011 to get answers, or email us at ask@thecity.nyc with “Election” in the subject line. May 31 is the last day to see the MISSING THEM photo exhibitions in The Bronx and Queens honoring those who appear in THE CITY’s COVID-19 memorial project.
