The war in Ukraine with its hundreds and thousands of dead continues to cause
grief and ruin and to destabilize the international political order. No matterhow many efforts are made, there is no end in sight to this massacre and thepossibility of interrupting the suffering of the populations involved . Thepeoples of both countries see thousands of young people die sent to be massacredby interests greater than themselves because the clash between the United Statesand Russia is taking place on the fields of Ukraine with the aim of weakening thepolitical and economic capacities of the Europe real competitor of the United States.Diplomatic efforts to stop the massacre are ineffective and in any case almostnon-existent. Even the mediation announced by China has remained more of astatement of goodwill than a real hypothesis on which to open a negotiationbetween the parties. The determination of the United States in supporting theUkrainian war effort to victory seems to have stood the test of time andapparently benefits the United States as it brings new members to NATO and unitesthe increasingly economically and militarily dominated European countries aroundthe Atlantic Alliance, as well as politically, of the North American ally.The only possible solution seems to be that of opening a negotiation startingfrom a ceasefire, extremely unlikely due to the non-exhausted war capacity of theparties; however, a truce and the only occasion on which to build a hypothesis ofat least momentary cessation of hostilities. The solution that lies ahead, beyondthe proclamations of Zelensky, who would like to reconquer the Crimea anddeclares at every turn that he does not want to stop before having pursued andobtained the liberation of all the occupied Ukrainian territories, is that ofestablishing on the line of the ceasefire, a so-called Korean solution with theindication of a line of truce which constitutes at least temporarily a frontierbetween the parties awaiting negotiations starting from more reasonablepositions. Meanwhile, the massacre continues in a war that has now becomepositional, a war that is fought as trench warfare and looks more like the FirstWorld War than the Second. We are facing a battle of attrition which risksleaving both contenders on the field. Proof of this is the use of depleteduranium weapons which, in addition to raising the level of confrontation, havethe sole effect of causing the death of both those who use them and those whosuffer their impact in the fighting. But on the part of those who have decided touse these weapons, there are no hesitations. because the clients of the war areabsolutely not interested in the dead in the field, neither of the Ukrainianpeople, nor of the Russian people, indeed the idea is that the more they die, thebetter.Between war and peaceMeanwhile, aversion to war is growing more and more in public opinion in thecountries of the European Union and, despite this, nothing is moving at the levelof governments, which proceed without any verification of support for the wareffort on the part of public opinion and of the same electorate. This forciblyinduced propensity to war, imposed with systems that in fact violate democraticparticipation in the decisions of institutions governments are destroying therule of law and any semblance of a liberal democratic regime, replacingdemocratically elected governments and governing majorities with bureaucraticdemocrats who are totally captive of economic centers of power, of the occultgroups that dominate political and economic life. It follows that the principleswhose name is justified to participate in the war in reality disappear becausethe clash takes place between opposing powers, but substantially of identicalnature, with the same relationship of dominance with the peoples.This war is significant because it unequivocally demonstrates the nature of warconflicts, their instrumental function as a means of massacring peoples who arearrayed against each other armed, forced to massacre each other in the name offalse ideals, nationalisms, oligarchic interests, desires and ambitions for power.Everyone seems to have forgotten that the principle of self-determination ofpeoples, who have the first and last word in deciding their own destiny and whotherefore the jurisdiction and the form of government in the disputed territoriescan only be decided, once conditions of practicability and respect for opinionshave been recreated, by the citizens of those territories called to pronouncethemselves on the form of government of their territories and to decide andchoose their own destiny, under the vigilant protection of an internationalpeacekeeping force which acts as a deterrent to the conflict and as a guaranteeof equidistance between the conflicting parties.Therefore, the ceasefire and thetruce in the fighting can only follow the return of the displaced persons and areferendum in which the free participation of all those entitled is guaranteed.The many left-wing parties of the countries in the European Union were unable tostop the war and indeed joined it, falling into the trap of the rhetoric ofsolidarity towards the attacked country. In doing so they decreed their crisisand their self-destruction and paved the way for the triumph of the right, unableto understand that the DNA of a left-wing force contains the rejection of war asa tool for resolving conflicts always and in any case because war against it isthe peoples who are involved and it is the peoples who pay the price of war withdeath and destruction and with the sacrifices of the soldiers and the populationsof the different parties in the struggle who are all children of the samerelationship of exploitation by the holders of power from one and the other side.One can only get out of this situation with peace, which can only come from acapillary and widespread mobilization against war and from the acquired awarenessthat the ongoing conflict is waged on the heads and skins of peoples, to theirdetriment, and that the ideas of nationalism, patriotism, defense of ethnicityand identity are comfortable screens behind which the master hides and subtlyimposes the sacrifice of the peoples.If they are left-wing parties, all that remains is to be the bearers of thispeace plan.GLhttp://www.ucadi.org/2023/04/18/la-fine-ingloriosa-della-finlandizzazione/_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
