WORLD WORLDWIDE CANADA News Journal Update - (en) Canada, Collectif Emma Goldman - Publication of a new book by the Emma Goldman Collective (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

As the buds of May give glimpses of new leaves, we roll Anarchy Explained to Kids

off the presses in time for milder days. For the very first time worldwide, thislittle book by José Antonio Emmanuel, dating from 1931, is published in French. We took care of the translation and presentation. We broadcast it by our ownmeans (D.I.Y.) from Saguenay sur le Nitassinan. ---- Anarchy explained tochildren is a curious historical object written by a Spanish anarchist pedagogue. It is the product of the popular cultural agitation driven by the labor andsocial movements which marked the second Spanish republic and which widelydisseminated the new emancipatory discourses. The book has received renewedattention in recent years with reprints in several South American countries. Theversion (52 pages) that we offer is embellished with magnificent illustrations bymilitant artists. As with the Children's Anarchist Dictionary (of which we produced an adaptationand translation in 2022), the main interest of the book is to address a thornyquestion that remains unresolved: "as anarchists, how are we going to educate ourchildren? ". Anarchy explained to children is composed of three parts. The firsttwo have a longer vocabulary and longer paragraphs, while the last, "How do youbecome an anarchist?" ", presents in a simple, succinct and pictorial way someimportant principles. As each child has its own individuality and its owncapacities, it is difficult to establish an age at which to recommend such ananarchist work, which is moreover of a historical nature. The accompaniment ofthe child who reads remains precious to question and bring out the meaning of abook. Without taking away control of their thinking, adults can sharpen theircritical thinking by showing them the social relationships that run through theirworld and by explaining to them the ideologies that shape the discourse on it.Around the age of 11, or earlier with good support, this book could interestthem. Note that this idea of recommending an age remains quite normative, eachparent should ultimately judge himself or herself. Finally, even if according toits title the booklet is intended "for children", teenagers and adults willcertainly savor this reading. This book is not found in commercial distribution networks - and it is intended. As books die as commodities on store and distributor shelves, we want our pagesto live by creating opportunities to come together, being shared as aneducational tool, and supporting activist networks. We distribute the book by ourown means during militant events and within our networks.Libraries, educational settings and other alternative places open tochildren/adolescents, as well as classmates who would like to obtain one or morecopies, can express their interest by e-mail (cegsaglac@riseup.net). Also, contact us if you would like to organize a launch (a gathering opportunity) inyour locality. Last fall, we traveled to Saint-Fulgence, Percé, Sherbrooke,Chicoutimi, Saint-Valérien-de-Rimouski, Quebec, and Gaspé to launch theChildren's Anarchist Dictionary; this is proof that in villages and small townstoo, it is possible to organize anarchist events!Emma Goldman Anarchist CollectiveMay 18, 2023by Emma Goldman Collectivehttp://ucl-saguenay.blogspot.com/2023/05/publication-du-livre-lanarchie.html_________________________________________A - I N F O S  N E W S  S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
