off the presses in time for milder days. For the very first time worldwide, this
little book by José Antonio Emmanuel, dating from 1931, is published in French.
We took care of the translation and presentation. We broadcast it by our own
means (D.I.Y.) from Saguenay sur le Nitassinan. ---- Anarchy explained to
children is a curious historical object written by a Spanish anarchist pedagogue.
It is the product of the popular cultural agitation driven by the labor and
social movements which marked the second Spanish republic and which widely
disseminated the new emancipatory discourses. The book has received renewed
attention in recent years with reprints in several South American countries. The
version (52 pages) that we offer is embellished with magnificent illustrations by
militant artists.

As with the Children's Anarchist Dictionary (of which we produced an adaptation
and translation in 2022), the main interest of the book is to address a thorny
question that remains unresolved: "as anarchists, how are we going to educate our
children? ". Anarchy explained to children is composed of three parts. The first
two have a longer vocabulary and longer paragraphs, while the last, "How do you
become an anarchist?" ", presents in a simple, succinct and pictorial way some
important principles. As each child has its own individuality and its own
capacities, it is difficult to establish an age at which to recommend such an
anarchist work, which is moreover of a historical nature. The accompaniment of
the child who reads remains precious to question and bring out the meaning of a
book. Without taking away control of their thinking, adults can sharpen their
critical thinking by showing them the social relationships that run through their
world and by explaining to them the ideologies that shape the discourse on it.
Around the age of 11, or earlier with good support, this book could interest
them. Note that this idea of recommending an age remains quite normative, each
parent should ultimately judge himself or herself. Finally, even if according to
its title the booklet is intended "for children", teenagers and adults will
certainly savor this reading.

This book is not found in commercial distribution networks - and it is intended.
As books die as commodities on store and distributor shelves, we want our pages
to live by creating opportunities to come together, being shared as an
educational tool, and supporting activist networks. We distribute the book by our
own means during militant events and within our networks.

children/adolescents, as well as classmates who would like to obtain one or more

your locality. Last fall, we traveled to Saint-Fulgence, Percé, Sherbrooke,

Children's Anarchist Dictionary; this is proof that in villages and small towns
too, it is possible to organize anarchist events!
