Dear friends,
Things are getting really bad here in Ghana since the Anti-LGBTIQ Bill of 2021 was introduced. Attacks on LGBTIQ folks and homophobia are on the rise.
This bill is now moving closer to becoming a law. On Wednesday, July 19, the Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit aimed at preventing parliament from passing the bill. It's scary because Uganda passed a similarly dreadful law a month ago and we could be next soon: the person pushing it says it'll be fast-tracked. The outlook is bleak if this happens.
If this bill becomes law, just being suspected of being LGBTIQ could land you in jail for 5 years. Fighting for LGBTIQ rights? That could get you up to 10 years.
Please join the 59,000 who've already signed our petition. We need you on board to fight this.
