WORLD WORLDWIDE ITALY News Journal Update - (en) Italy, FDCA, Il Cantiere #18: AGAINST IMPERIALISM AND ITS WARS (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

The over 50 conflicts that are bloodying the world today arise in the midst of

the fierce competition between the imperialist powers for control of the worldmarket. ---- The war in Ukraine unleashed by the aggression of Russianimperialism, militarily strong but economically weak, confirms that the processof redefining the areas of influence of the main capitalist and military powershas matured, a process that inevitably takes place with war. ---- Russia and theUnited States collide in the Ukrainian war in a conflict fought by proxy for thecontrol of the Eurasian market in which China faces, a young, dynamic capitalismwhich is also by now solidly moving towards an imperialist dimension, whichinevitably involves the arms race that already characterizes other powers such asJapan. In Russia and Ukraine there are no two peoples who are fighting each other:instead in the two countries a proletariat and a bourgeoisie continue to existand it is precisely the Russian and Ukrainian bourgeoisie and their states which, having irreconcilable interests, are fighting each other on the battlefieldreaping civilian casualties and dragging the workers of their respectivecountries to slaughter each other for interests not their own.The one in Ukraine is a war that the European Union finds itself facing in acondition of strategic inadequacy with respect to the needs of the escalation ofthe clash between the main imperialist powers. Hence its weakness. But despitethese growing contradictions and its considerable delays, Europe remains, albeitpotentially, an imperialist pole endowed as it is with considerable productiveand financial strength, a single currency and an enormousmilitary: these characteristics make European imperialism a reality thatcertainly cannot be underestimated, destined in any case to remain in play evenwithin NATO.On the other hand, in the context of the war in Ukraine, the UN is also givingway to the protagonism of military alliances which, just like NATO, stand at theservice of the dominant US imperialism, as opposed to Russian and Chineseimperialism and qualifying also in an anti-European function.Capitalism seems willing to go all out, getting ever closer to a world war, withunimaginable catastrophic consequences: for this reason the war in Ukraine muststop immediately. In any case, the first victim will be Ukraine, destined for decades to besubjected to the protection of the victor, a protection which provides for therepayment of war debts under the banner of poverty and the exploitation of theproletariat of that country, forced to submit to the rules which will be imposedon him by the new power relations that have matured in the imperialist clashbetween the powers. Not even the lower classes of the other capitalist countries will escape fromthis situation, as they will pay the war debts imposed by their respectivebourgeoisies, intent on dividing up any war spoils. The leaders of the majorWestern governments have repeatedly met with Zelenski, the champion ofdemocracies at the head of a corrupt government that has outlawed oppositionparties, introduced laws prohibiting strikes and giving free rein to bosses (inshort , just like in Russia...), assuring him full support until victory. Westerngovernments that fill their mouths with the words "freedom and internationallaw", hypocritically pretending not to see all the other wars and occupationsgoing on, as in Syria, in Yemen where Saudi planes bomb civilians, as inPalestine where in fact the territories conquered by war are annexed by Israel, without mentioning the many previous conflicts unleashed by the powers. The immense destruction of the environment and of life itself; the hundreds ofthousands of human lives claimed on the battlefields and among the civilianpopulations of the bombed cities; the exodus from war zones of enormous masses ofdesperate human beings which end up in hecatombs on the coasts of theMediterranean countries which reject them, are the dramatic consequences ofconscious choices by the main capitalist powers in conflict for the division ofthe world. We will not side with a flag or a nation because we know that wars are not foughtbetween aggressors and aggressors: wars are wanted by the capitalist bourgeoisiesand their state apparatuses for their interests of domination. For us libertarian communists, internationalism is and remains the only antidoteto the barbarism of the capitalist system.War overwhelms the opposition social movement, but does not destroy it. Graduallythe fanfare of the illusions transmitted by the propaganda of this or thatgovernment and military commands loosens in Rome as in Moscow and in Kiev, inWashington as in Berlin. The capitalist system and its states are oriented towards accumulating profits byincreasing the harsh social reality of growing poverty, inequality andunemployment, inflation and deprivation: all over the world war expenses are paidby the lower classes in terms of increased exploitation of the workforceespecially female when in the world they are counted every year2,800,000 fatal accidents at work, precariousness and new inequalities, substantial cuts in wages, essential social services and pensions. But theconflict between capital and labor is also growing and asserting itself in theworld: in France against the pension reform as well as in England and Germany themobilizations for contract renewals are growing. In this crisis scenario, theopposition to war was born and consolidated; it is growing in terms of desertionin Ukraine as in Russia; throughout Europe the aversion to the wars of capitalismtakes shape in all those local committees which fight against militaryinstallations, shooting ranges, the destruction of the territory, the nefariouspresence of militarism on television and in schools: ferments of opposition tomilitarism and the wars of the bosses are springing up everywhere.Entrusting bourgeois parliaments and institutions with the functions andperspectives of mass movements and trade union organization (albeit consideringthe latter reformist, as is the union in capitalist society), means replacing thedynamics of the clash between classes with the logic concertation which, with themoderation of trade union demands and the conflict in the perspective ofcompatibility with the capitalist system and the pursuit of the interests of therespective imperialisms, divides the unity of our class and distances theconstruction of a class awareness for the evolution of the internationalproletariat "from class to class per se", towards the ambitious but excitinginternationalist perspective.Working women and men have no interest in participating in the wars of capital, however they are represented. Regarding the war in Ukraine and all wars we saythat we do not side with the warring parties and we support desertion. We are fighting for the borders to be opened to allow fighters and people toescape who do not want to die and do not want to fight a war that is not theirs.Every woman and every man has the right to flee wars, pain, misery and thedictatorships they impose. We are therefore for the unconditional welcome of all human beings who flee theircountries devastated by the wars of capital to build a better and more just life. They are sisters and brothers of our own class with whom to embark on a commonpath of liberation from capitalism. In these times of war, we express particular solidarity with all deserters andthose who rebel against militarism and military spending, in war zones and in thecountries in which we live. In Europe, borders must be open and we want ournetworks of solidarity in support of desertion to be respected. Working men andwomen do not need wars, class internationalism is once again the antidote tomilitarism and nationalism.Without overcoming capitalism, the logic of competition, profit and itsaccumulation, there will be no possibility for human beings to take control oftheir own lives for the construction of a society based on peace, freedom andequality.Against nationalism and Nazi-fascist regurgitations; against all forms ofauthoritarianism, racism, patriarchy and intolerance, instruments that havealways been used by the bourgeoisie when it comes to making workers pay the warbill, we express our full support to deserters, opponents and those who claimright not to participate in the imperialist slaughter.Against wars for internationalismNo to sending armsYes to welcoming and supporting Russian and Ukrainian deserters and refugees ofall kindswarsFor a libertarian communist societyhttp://alternativalibertaria.fdca.it_________________________________________A - I N F O S  N E W S  S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
