In Ain, comrades from the UCL were prosecuted by the local National
Rally deputy after preventing him and other RN activists from joiningthe inter-union demonstration against the pension reform. Each sequenceof mobilization provides a test of the capacity of social movementorganizations to resist the advances of neo-fascism. ---- In Ain, aterritory plagued by the far right, the fascists are gathered mainlyaround the FN / RN, whose local leader, Jérôme Buisson, is currently adeputy. The latter more broadly embodies an insidious strategy ofinfiltration and confusion. He is therefore one of the few leaders ofthis party who, despite public declarations by the main unionsunequivocally refusing the presence of the FN/RN in union processions,have nevertheless tried to enter. The deputy appeared in thedemonstration wearing his tricolor scarf, all accompanied by a dozen ofhis henchmen. It was for him to then assert himself on social networks,opportunely and at a lower cost, as an opponent of Macron and hiscounter-reform of pensions.Obstruction of freedom of movementHaving noted this presence, several comrades, in particular from ourlocal group UCL Ain, prevented the deputy RN from repeating thisprovocation from the demonstration of January 31. That day, the fascistswere indeed taken out of the procession, simply by means of thespontaneous establishment of a human chain facing the undesirables.Unsurprisingly, the strategy then consisted of the RN victimizing itselfand intimidating its adversaries by taking advantage of the new statusof "public authority" of the fascist deputy Buisson : filing a complaintfor obstructing a demonstration, for insult, for contempt and finallyfor violence against a person holding public authority ; publiccommunication seeking to isolate and demonize its opponents, even goingso far as to bluntly invoke "freedom of movement". Unsurprisingly, thefile against the comrades being empty, the proceedings have since beendropped, they ultimately only receiving a "probationary criminalwarning" (new version of the "reminder of the law").It should be noted that this decision amounts to recognizing despiteeverything the offense of "concerted obstruction with assault to theexercise of the freedom of demonstration". This is a new example of thefunctioning of bourgeois justice : in the absence of any materialelement (note: for there to be such an offence, there would have had tobe "threats", which were never made), but simply in order not to loseface...Strong support from the local social movementWhat analysis should be made of this episode beyond these legaldimensions? On the one hand, the comrades who took charge of theeviction of the FN/RN may have felt somewhat isolated in practicalsituations, especially when it came to physically intervening or evenwhen it was necessary to explain the reason for this eviction todemonstrators who were sometimes obsessed with the "Macron" target tothe point of not understanding the game of objective alliance betweenthe neo-liberals and the far right. These reactions (or non-reactions)have shown that anti-fascist values are fragile if considered at anindividual level and are therefore always to be defended and cultivatedpractically, including through work at the level of the SO organizationin the inter-union processions.The comrades who took charge of the eviction of the RN may have feltsomewhat isolated, especially when it came to physically intervening oreven when it was necessary to explain this eviction, showing thatanti-fascist values are therefore always to be defended and cultivatedpractically.On the other hand, in particular when union and anti-fascist activistswere targeted by police repression, the various organizations of thesocial movement, unions in the lead, showed a salutary reflex ofsolidarity : the inter-union of Ain unreservedly supported the comradesimplicated, in particular by calling for a rally in front of the policestation on the day of the summons ; a rally that turned out to be asuccess, bringing together between 50 and 100 people (trade unionistsfrom Solidaires, the CGT or even the FSU, activists from variousleft-wing organizations, comrades from UCL Grenoble who came to support,etc.).Ultimately, these episodes are an opportunity for the social movement asa whole to reaffirm anti-fascist solidarity. They also give theopportunity to carry out agit-prop work by taking advantage of a wideaudience. Because obviously, the fascists of the RN will never be ourallies, they are even the worst enemy of the working class.
