The CNT-SO calls to join the unitary marches of September 23, 2023, for
the end of systemic racism, police violence, for social justice andpublic freedoms. ---- After the death of Nahel, the litany of deaths orserious injuries by the Police did not stop: Mohamed, Aymen, Hedi,Sefa... The recurring profile of the victims, young men fromworking-class and identified backgrounds as Franco-Maghrebis orAfropeans, leaves no doubt about the racist nature of this violence.---- There is no blunder or isolated act. The current series is directlylinked to legislative developments since Hollande and Cazeneuve, in2017, which further allows the police to use their weapons, particularlyin the case of the famous "refusal to comply". It is also largely due tothe culture of impunity, violence and racism which thrives in the ranksof the Police, covered by the institutions, a union mafia largely wonover by the far right and the protective denial of a large part of thepolitical class.We have no illusions about the police institution, it is indeed asystemic issue. Racist and discriminatory practices (facial checks,etc.), violence and crimes, most often unpunished, continue for decadesand are part of a painful history of hunting foreigners, todayundocumented immigrants, yesterday Spanish republicans, Jews, Algerianseparatists...The current context is thus strongly marked by the increasingly brutalrepression and criminalization of social struggles. Faced with strongsocial protest (yellow vests, strike movements, environmental activism,etc.), the State has voluntarily let go of its police force, whichexercises its violence without restraint (mutilations, deaths, etc.).The response to the popular revolts of July was extremely brutal:indistinct repression by militarized units like the RAID, expeditiousjustice...Here again, there is no question of individual blunders, the violence issystemic! Putting the adjective "republican" on it does not changeanything; for the State, the primary function of the police is not toprotect the population but to control it and repress it if necessary, inthe service of an unequal social order.The bourgeois bloc in power is rapidly radicalizing by restrictingpublic freedoms and organizing a surveillance society. Massive socialmovements like "the earth uprisings" are threatened with banning,anti-capitalist and environmental activists are associated withterrorism... Following the pensions movement, hundreds of tradeunionists are worried by legal or disciplinary proceedings at theirworkplace. This authoritarianism must be firmly fought!The bourgeois bloc is moving ever closer to the far right, while fascistmilitias act with impunity in the streets and the police union mafiacalls for civil war. The social movement must react massively!
