WORLD WORLDWIDE GERMANY News Journal Update - (en) Germany, Die Plattform: "Strengthening connections": report from the visit to the UCL summer camp (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

This year's summer camp of our sister organization Union communiste

libertaire (UCL) took place from August 13th to 20th in the Aveyronregion of southern France. Members and sympathizers from all parts ofFrance took part in the event. After a comrade from the platform visitedthe camp last year, this year a small delegation from the platform wasthere to get an insight into the work of the comrades and to strengthenthe connections between our organizations. The delegation's report follows:"As in previous years, this year there was also a diverse program ofcontent. Every day there were several workshops, lectures or discussiongroups on different social struggles and organizational issues. A focusin the first few days was on dealing with the Kurdish freedom movement. Those present listened to the explanations of a comrade from the Academyof Democratic Modernity about the current situation in Rojava and theexplanations of a comrade on the theory of Jineology. As in previousyears, another focus of the camp was on company and union work. Atvarious events, for example, assessments of the movement against pensionreform were exchanged and the results of the last congress of the CGTunion were explained. Comrades active in the CGT and Solidaires tradeunion confederations discussed the state of their organizations. But many other topics also took place: activists from the environmentalmovement and the anti-fascist movement were discussed, comrades from theinternal committees of the UCL held the federation-wide training coursesthey had developed on anti-queer sentiment and racism, and theinternational secretariat took part in an event the current situation ofFrench imperialism. We as a delegation complemented this event with ashort lecture on the history and current events of German imperialism. At our own event at the camp, we had the opportunity to talk to Frenchcomrades about the current domestic political situation in Germany andwere able to answer a variety of questions about it. We wereparticularly pleased about the warm support from the comrades for ourown further organizational development. But the week of togetherness is not just about education. It is also aplace for collective recreation, gathering strength for the next year ofpolitical struggle and forging connections with comrades from otherparts of the country. That's why, in addition to sports activities inthe morning, there were a variety of leisure activities in the evenings. From revolutionary karaoke, dancing and game nights to a pub quiz thatGerman and French comrades organized together. The UCL camp differs from many political camps that we have experiencedhere in Germany in that there is an exceptionally high level ofself-government. From the educational program to the leisure activitiesand reproductive tasks, the participants organize everything themselves. Those responsible are named for each area of responsibility, who in turnserve as contact persons for the comrades who are divided into theshifts. A general meeting of all participants takes place every evening. This made it possible to complete the work involved together and insolidarity. All in all, being at the camp this year was once again an incrediblybeautiful and important experience. The intensive exchange of content, the warm welcome from our comrades and the solidarity living together atthe camp - and all of this in the middle of nature, far away from thehustle and bustle and noise of our cities. Seeing how our sisterorganization in France continues to build and play a relevant role inthe current class conflicts gives us strength. Seeing a new generationof libertarian revolutionaries emerge who have class struggle at theirheart gives us hope. And seeing how the connections between ourorganizations, which we established almost five years ago, continue tostrengthen, gives us confidence. For building a strong anarchistorganization here in the Federal Republic of Germany and for thecreation of a new anarchist international."In the coming months and years we will continue to intensify ourcollaboration with our comrades in France and elsewhere. In the currentphase, we believe it is particularly important to disseminateinformation from the libertarian movement and class struggles locally. That's why in the coming weeks we will publish two interviews onanarchismus.de that we conducted with comrades at the camp.Stay tuned.https://www.dieplattform.org/2023/09/13/die-verbindungen-staerken-bericht-vom-besuch-auf-dem-sommercamp-der-ucl/_________________________________________A - I N F O S  N E W S  S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
