There are dozens of migrants, asylum seekers, sleeping on the street in
Pordenone. ---- Thousands of km, effort, suffering, police mistreatmentat the borders, now in the open in a city where, if those who govern it,cannot chase them away, they want them invisible. ---- They have nofirst reception although it should be guaranteed to them by all those"beautiful" European and Italian rules that regulate a universal right.---- That is, the usual waste paper in the hands of the good hearts ofthe administrators who, according to conscience (read "electoralinterests"), will decide whether to fulfill or hinder that "legality"which they normally appeal against dissidents, poor people andminorities but which , when it concerns them, they can "interpret" oreven neglect. Thus in Pordenone in recent days GEA S.p.A., called by the local policeon orders from the political leaders, had the task of "cleaningeverything up", that is, confiscating the backpacks and personal bags ofasylum seekers sleeping on the street, treating them as if they were waste. The municipal administration itself had already ordered the seizure ofthe few basic necessities of asylum seekers years ago, during the firstwave of migrants, but then it limited itself to taking them to themunicipal warehouse, giving the volunteers who assist the migrants theopportunity to recover them.Last Saturday, three places where these people tried to sleep werecleared out, isolated places which often have the worst hygienic andhealth conditions. But the only decorum that interests the mayor and his clique iscertainly not that of this "uncomfortable" humanity but that of hisbeloved concrete and the urban "furnishings" of a city increasinglystripped of trees, plants and solidarity.A migrant's backpack or plastic bag contains his entire life: a fewchanges of clothes, a pair of shoes, some medicines perhaps purchased byvolunteers or a few personal effects, that is, the only link with whathe was. Treating these migrants, these people, as plague victims andgetting rid of their bags takes us back to times not too distant whenthese methods preceded and announced brutal and totalitarian consequences. On the other hand, it is today, in this time and here close to us, thatthousands of migrants die drowned at sea, a Mediterranean which is aboundless cemetery whose responsibilities lie primarily with Europeangovernments. And we cannot fail to consider that when ordinary people, workers orsimple soldiers, stopping to think and feel, obey an order withoutasking any questions, they become accomplices of this crazy mechanismand their "Lord Yes" was well told in what Hannah Arendt called "thebanality of evil."In a Pordenone with thousands of vacant houses and apartments, thinkingthat we cannot give worthy hospitality to those who need a place to restand live is unacceptable. And it is certainly not by using hangars or warehouses, the infamoushubs where these migrants are piled up, in the province and miles awaywith the sole ridiculous intention of hiding the dust under the carpet, that this infamy can be resolved or erased. The welcome must be dignified and widespread. We have never had any doubts about the usefulness or otherwise of laws:they always serve those who are already guaranteed their economic andpolitical privileges, with the aim of limiting the freedom and rights ofthose who are excluded from them. They call it regulation because in formal democracies those rights andfreedoms must be "formally" guaranteed, but in reality their exercise islimited as much as possible, leaving the various articles and clausesattached to the laws (the techno-bureaucracy) the concrete possibilityof neutralizing rights and freedoms to the point of overturning the verymeaning of those "liberal and democratic" laws that the West boasts somuch about.Breaking down borders: social justice and freedom of movement!Libertarian Initiative - PNhttps://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=693790436129989&set=a.320761506766219_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
