The same document specifies the maximum duration of border controls (six
months).

In most cases, these border controls are activated for approximately two
weeks to a month due to[terrorist]attacks or on the occasion of major
international events such as sports competitions, climate, G7 or G20
summits and/or awards Nobel.

However, this situation can be prolonged from time to time, even after
six months.

And so, since 2015, Germany has extended border controls with Austria
until today - due to the "large influx of people seeking international
protection".

Furthermore, 2015 was the year of the reintroduction of border controls
in Austria (with Italy, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia), Slovenia (with
Hungary), Sweden and Denmark (to anyone arriving) , Belgium and Malta.

the move who are fleeing war and poverty and want to save their lives.

Border controls are currently carried out:

  * in Norwegian ports that provide ferry connections with Schengen area
countries (due to the threat to critical land and maritime
infrastructure and the danger of Russian intelligence);

  *  in Denmark, at the land and sea border with Germany. From 3 to 10
August the controls were extended due to the "threat of Islamic
terrorism, organized crime, smuggling, the Russian invasion of Ukraine,
illegal migration along the central Mediterranean route" (the control

  * in the aforementioned Germany, precisely on the border with Austria,
due to the "increase in illegal immigration coming from Turkey and
crossing the Western Balkans, the pressure on the reception system for

  *  within the Swedish borders due to the threat of Islamic terrorism;

  *  in Austria, at the land border with Hungary and Slovenia. Reason:
"Pressure on the reception system for asylum seekers, strong migratory
pressure on the EU's external border with Turkey and the Western
Balkans, threat of arms trafficking and criminal networks due to the war
in Ukraine, human smuggling."

  * in France, near the borders with Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany,
Switzerland, Italy and Spain, due to "the new terrorist threats, the
growing risk of terrorist organizations on national territory - which
have as their objective the Rugby World Cup which will take place will

flows at the external borders (from the central Mediterranean and the
western coast of the Western Balkans)."

As can be seen, therefore, in most countries at least one of the many
reasons for introducing border controls is the issue of migratory

- the border between Poland and Belarus - very often take the German
state as their destination or, at least,[it is seen by them as]a transit
country, a stopover to go further afield.

Some migrant and refugee people decide to move away from Poland -
towards Western Europe - only after having clashed with Polish
bureaucracy, the hell of detention camps and the lack of systemic support.

Based on the Dublin Regulations, these people are often subjected to
deportation measures: once controls are in place, they will have less
opportunity to tell their story and put their lives together. And again
because of these controls,[migrants and refugees]will simply be rejected
or returned to the country they come from. Without being able to request
anything. It is a very common situation on the border between Spain and
France: those who want to reach French territory repeatedly try to cross
the border by land - so as not to risk drowning in the treacherous
Bidasoa river.

Border control does not affect every person who crosses the border -

Racial profiling and document checks at internal Schengen borders are
producing good results. According to an activist from a migrant support
organization in the town of Irun (on the border between Spain and
France), "Here there are no borders if you are not black or Arab."

Students who cross borders to go to school every day or people who go to
work are identified. And, of course, those seeking to enter a country to
ask for asylum or another form of protection, to join a family and/or
start a different life.

No borders? Human dignity? Only if you are a citizen of the European Union.
