The CGT of Catalonia, as an anarcho-syndicalist organization, and
according to our congress agreements, we defend the self-determinationof all peoples who wish it. From Catalonia to Galicia, passing throughEuskal Herria, from the mountains of Kurdistan, to the Zapatistacommunities in Chiapas, from Palestine to the Sahara desert. ---- Forus, however, self-determination does not mean deciding which Stateadministers a territory, it does not mean which state apparatus decideson the lives of the people who inhabit this territory. For us,self-determination cannot be separated from self-management.Self-determination means being able to decide on all the spheres thataffect us as a society, it means deciding on production and the economy,on education, on health, on natural resources and the territory. And itmust be the working class from their own truly democratic institutionswho do it.Self-determination must be linked to direct democracy. Delegating oursovereignty every four years to a parliament that can decide without anykind of popular control or any possibility of revoking electedofficials, this is not democracy. That it is normal for electedpoliticians not to fulfill electoral promises or programs shows us thatwe do not live in a democracy, but in a parliamentary monarchy. A regimethat rules under the absolute influence of the economic powers, whetherin its business, banking or media forms.Seeing that the social context is a setback for the neo-reformistcandidacies that emerged after 15M (Podemos-En Comú, Sumar...); that theextreme right maintains and normalizes its presence; seeing thatbipartisanship prevails again; seeing that the parties of processism arededicated to managing the crumbs as they have always done: we call onthe working class of Catalonia to organize to stop the capitalistbarbarism, which we suffer every day in the form of precariousness forthe majority and concentration of wealth in a minority, which we sufferevery day when we see how our land is polluted and destroyed thusmortgaging the future of new generations. It is necessary to organize inorder to one day enable the construction of a society of self-determinedand self-managed communities and free people.
