voted party, but it is practically impossible to recover the votes to
form a government, especially since the pathetic Konfederacja is
unavailable to any alliance.
If you compare the two graphs that follow, the first reproducing the
previous Parliament and the second the new one, it is possible to see
the result of the vote which was clear, despite the Pis' previous
attempts to change the electoral laws to its advantage and control the
results through the compliant judiciary that the party controls. Now we
need to explore the possibilities of a majority for the formation of the
new government, even if the coalition of the three parties that will
have to form it must face and overcome many problems.

The restoration of the rule of law

It is necessary to restore the prestige and independence of the
judiciary and the rule of law as a priority. Thousands of Poles took to
the streets to defend the judges: now one of the first objectives is the
abolition of the "Disciplinary Chamber", judged illegitimate by the
European Court of Justice: a sort of Inquisition for the officials,
established by the Pis governments at the High Court (constitutional) to
remove and sanction inconvenient magistrates. Previously it was called
"Disciplinary Commission", now it has changed name, but not substance;
this is one of the stones of the scandal in the duel between Warsaw and
Brussels and one of the reasons why Poland saw 35 billion euros of EU
funds cut due to the destruction of the rule of law. But there are other
very serious violations of legality: the Constitutional Court, for
example, has been filled with judges close to Kaczynski and it is these
who in 2020 decided to almost completely ban abortion.
Another method used by Pis to attack the judiciary was to transfer
non-aligned officials to courts that have nothing to do with their
competences, so that a criminal judge can find himself judging eviction
cases or a civil judge can come called to pronounce sentences on
murders: a government mobbing against officials
that requires careful review. The association of judges that has been
fighting for years to restore autonomy to justice, "Iustitia", has made
five proposals to return to a judicial system disconnected from
politics, to restore the rule of law and restore dignity to judges. "We
hope that Tusk, if he becomes prime minister, will listen to us" say the
judges interviewed commenting on the vote.
A civic platform, Donald Tusk's party will certainly be the keystone of
Polish politics, adapting the country to the choices of the Union,
reconciling it with Brussels and at the same time contributing
decisively to the birth of the new Commission and blocking the project
of the group of Giorgia Meloni's conservatives to enter the majority
coalition that manages Europe, ensuring that the ouster of the Pis from
the government causes a significant setback for the populists and the
isolation of Orban. The new governing majority in Warsaw will certainly
affect the position of the Heads of State and Government as well as
increasing the weight of the forces opposed to the populists in the
European Parliament also for the purposes of the election of the new
Commission.

War, agriculture and the Third Way

Support from Terza Via (Trzecia Droga) which is a political coalition of
centrist, Christian Democrat and liberal parties with a green component
and the support of a nascent farmers' movement. He wants to increase
state budget revenue, reform education, implement a climate policy based
on renewable energy, simplify the tax system, depoliticize personnel in
state-owned companies and state offices, separate the Attorney General's
office from the Ministry of Justice , hold a referendum on the
permissibility of abortion - an issue on which the party is divided.
Rigorous in economics, the party proposes support for entrepreneurs and
families and has an "active agriculture" program in the social sphere.
It takes on contradictory requests such as the construction of housing
and dormitories, investments in the armaments industry, support for
businesses of transport, as well as proposals to introduce two shopping
Sundays a month, protection of families and the possibility of deducting
health insurance contributions from taxes, the comprehensive reform of
the health system, equal pay for women and men, the restoration of
funding for in vitro reproduction, the modernization of perinatal care
standards, increased availability of nurseries and the introduction of a
security system for the import of agri-food products from Ukraine,
especially making changes to the strategic plan of the common
agricultural policy , abolishing the "solidarity corridors" for Ukraine,
adopting the law on personal assistance, increasing wages - among
others. for teachers, nurses and paramedics - as well as expenditure on
military modernization at Polish weapons factories. From this
formation the new government will be asked for moderation in aid to
Ukraine, also due to the growing general hostility towards the refugees
who are turning into settled emigrants who compete with the Poles on the
job market.

Civil rights, human rights, wall - migration policy, new left

The third party of the future government's coalition - Nowa Lewica - has
a vast program contained in 155 propositions: the party fights for the
secularity of schools "We will eliminate religion from schools. By
freeing up classrooms and easing the lesson schedule, some schools will
be able to abandon the shift system. We will use the saved funds to
organize support lessons for students with special needs. Equal
opportunities, gender equality" (preposition 19 of the program) while in
preposition 85 it says: "A secular state. We will put an end to the
privileged position of the Catholic Church and denounce the concordat.
We will take religion out of schools and into catechism classrooms and
we will put an end to public financing of catechists' salaries. We will
implement the hitherto unrealized principle of religious neutrality of
state offices and institutions, which must serve all citizens regardless
of their religion or lack thereof. The Prosecutor's Office is not there
to prosecute "blasphemy", so we will repeal the art. 196 of the penal
code on insulting religious feelings." Furthermore, there is a desire
for "Financial separation between Church and State. We will abolish the
financial and fiscal privileges of the clergy, including the Church
Fund. We will end the practice of transferring real estate to churches
for free or next to nothing. We will remove the exemption provided for
churches to the ban on the purchase of agricultural land. We will
introduce the obligation to register the income of churches and
religious associations." The program also includes a ruthless fight
against pedophilia and the abolition of conscientious objection to
euthanasia or medical treatment.
The New Left party will certainly bring to the new government the
request for the implementation of prepositions 77 and 78 of its program
"Love for all. We will introduce full marriage equality, as well as the
institution of civil unions regardless of gender." and will ask for
"Hate-free zones." We will facilitate the legal and medical gender
reconciliation process .
We will ban so-called "conversion therapies" and other harmful,
pseudoscientific practices targeting LGBTQ+ people. We will expand the
art. 119, 256 and 257 of the penal code for hate crimes based on
psychosexual orientation and gender identity." thus paving the way for
the liberalization of the country from the obscurantism of the Pis, is
stated in the program proposals. Another request for the blocking of
walls and barbed wire on the borders with Eastern Europe.
Having said this in relation to the implementation of political and
civil rights, the party supports a policy of attention to ecology, a
public building program, the strengthening of public health, the
improvement of public transport and all services towards the community
and supports a policy of salary increase and creation of welfare
structures for families, young people, the elderly, the disabled, whose
assistance is removed from the contract and management of the Catholic
Church which from this activity makes handsome profits in Poland.
