to silence those who oppose, the ancient concept that peace is
maintained through war must be kept alive. But the potentates understand
peace as the economic hegemony of one part of the world over another,
while the only peace we want is harmony and cooperation
Wars of all kinds rage on all continents and make the devastation
profitable, so much so, in the end, we rebuild.
In Ukraine (to talk about a war close to us) the vultures are already
ready to prey and with the war still ongoing they are already thinking
about subsequent business. The same interests that intensify the
production of armaments today will benefit from reconstruction tomorrow.
The Italian Armed Forces, with over 7,000 soldiers, are present in 35
international missions as part of multinational coalitions, under the
aegis of the UN, NATO and the European Union or bilateral agreements.
The Italian military is deployed in 24 countries ranging from the Arctic
region and the Baltic southwards through the Eastern Flank of the
Alliance, from the Persian Gulf westwards through the Horn of Africa and
the Middle East, the Mediterranean, North Africa, the Sahel up to the
Gulf of Guinea and Antarctica.
Fincantieri builds warships. Leonardo arms drones which also acted for
the autocratic regime of the Turkish Erdogan against the self-management
experience of Rojava.
Fincantieri and Leonardo, two state companies based in Monfalcone and
Ronchi, are already gearing up for the reconstruction of bridges and
infrastructure. The Morandi bridge in Genoa is an example of rapid
efficiency that will be useful to Fincantieri in reconstruction contracts.
Migrations from war territories also pay off: it is a period of big
business and appetites are fueled.

The Italian government has passively accepted NATO's wishes to increase
military spending to 2 percent of GDP. Currently this figure is around
1.5 percent, and has been rising especially since the start of the war
in Ukraine.
If Italy spends almost 30 billion euros on defense in 2023, another 10
will be needed to reach the target quota.
It is worth focusing on the fact that the new budget law provides for an
increase in spending of 700 million just for the purchase of new
armaments and the item for military missions abroad has an allocation of
over 1.5 billion.
While the Army's bandwagon weighs more and more on the state coffers,
the gap in health expenditure is widening compared to other European and
G7 countries (our country's public health expenditure in 2022 stood at
6.8% of GDP , 0.3 percentage points below both the OECD average of 7.1%
and the European average of 7.1%. However, a decline in spending is
confirmed in 2024 which will fall to 132.737 billion at 6.3% of GDP .)
with immediate and catastrophic effects on the quality of the Public
Health Service.
Public healthcare is in shambles while the private healthcare pie
blooms, with all due respect to the right to health.
The large economic and political institutions relentlessly preach
austerity for social spending while the business of weapons, war and the
military is financed with public spending.
The impoverishment of the country makes the economic gap between the
submerged and the saved increasingly evident. The submerged are
increasingly at the mercy of fate in an unbridled social drift.
The Italian government was denounced by Giulio Regeni's parents for
violating the law that does not allow the export of weapons to countries
that do not respect human rights (see Zaki case, migrant trafficking,
Eni business, weapons...) for sale by Fincantieri of two frigates to
Egypt with a huge discount. An undercost so incredible as to hypothesize
damage to the treasury, as Fincantieri is financed with public money
from the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti. It is natural to ask why and in
exchange for what.
The new joint venture between Fincantieri and Leonardo for the
construction of three new generation patrol vessels for a total value of
925 million euros highlights the fact that the parastatal company, the
largest naval group in Europe, is pursuing a project focused on the
production/construction of military warships.

The war taking place in Ukraine continues to sow death and devastation
and for some time now it has been decided to return to using the
infamous cluster bombs: an instrument of death that was prohibited in
2008 with a treaty signed by 123 countries, but not from... USA, Russia
and Ukraine!
But the war effort must be accepted by society so all-round propaganda
is needed. And here the most squalid of propaganda rites takes place,
the one aimed at young people. Militarism is becoming increasingly
invasive within schools.
We have come to make backpacks, pencil cases and diaries with the logos
of the army, navy and air force. But that's not enough, conferences and
open days between barracks and schools, people in full uniform proposing
a bright future, a stable, well-paid job and retirement with full honors
at just under fifty. In Monfalcone, reading the names of the schools,
time seems to have stopped at the great carnage of the First World War.
Among the names there is also the case of a school dedicated to a
recruiter of the occult group GLADIO.
In the meantime, propaganda claims victims, recent news tells us how it
is still absurdly possible to die on parade, to die of militarism
because of the Frecce Tricolori. A five-year-old girl died, her
twelve-year-old brother was seriously burned, as were her mother and
father who ended up in hospital. This is the balance sheet of yet
another crazy consequence of Italian militarism. And it could have been
worse.
And finally the war is organized in the barracks and finds training on
the regional military ranges. Since the post-war period, a constellation
of barracks, powder magazines, stakeouts, bunkers, training and aviation
fields have been built in our territory as part of the "cold war",
including a US air base with nuclear equipment, based in Aviano. Now,
with the modification of the defense system, in the regional territory
there are hundreds of abandoned military sites, with only barracks one
every 15km, all in a state of serious degradation and pollution
completely borne by the local communities.
There are currently 9 active military ranges (6 of which are in
protected areas) and new "green" barracks are being built.
In relation to the new war and geopolitical scenarios, under US
pressure, the regulations for the use of the ranges have been expanded
in terms of occupied territory and used armament. The burden of
devastation, pollution and discomfort and danger for the population,
after 70 years of exercises, is now intolerable.
On November 4th we decided to take to the streets and express our
dissent towards the companies that build/produce warships/instruments of
death to say enough to the massacre that is bloodying Ukraine and other
scenarios around the world.
We give our solidarity to the deserters and saboteurs of all wars
starting from the one being fought in Ukraine.

We fight every form of nationalism and imperialism, both that of NATO
and that of the Russian and Chinese states.

We are libertarians and antimilitarists and we repudiate all wars and
armies.

Enough militarism over our heads.
