organization that is part of more than forty groups that make up the
Counter-Cumbre, positions itself against the migration, economic and war
policies of the European summit that is being held starting today,
October 5, in Granada. ---- An EU that supports warmongering and the
disproportionate increase in weapons of its member countries to finance
wars; an EU that writes the history of the people at the dictates of
NATO and its expansionism; an EU that restricts labor and social rights
and that dances to the tune of the dictates of large business
corporations and lobbies, fostering close relations between governments
and large companies. The example of Greece, increasing the working day
from 5 to 6 days a week, is terrifying.

Because look the other way when we have migration crises in our
Mediterranean and Atlantic waters, with daily loss of life, betting on
agreements on migration policies based on the most extreme right-wing
lines contrary to international agreements and the universal declaration
of human rights. .

An EU that minimizes the irreparable damage that is being caused to our
mother Earth, to our planet, given the insufficient decarbonization
measures and extension of an industrial agriculture and livestock model,
leaving small farmers and ranchers on the way. An EU that exploits and
plunders the resources of countries in the southern cone and that along
the way puts up fences so that the people of the South find more
obstacles to survive.

An EU that wants precarious, third-class workers, to enslave them even
more if possible. An EU that largely has aging populations, but with its
labor and social policies prevents our young people from becoming
independent. While they privatize pensions, with the happy private
pension funds, or privatize public services such as education, health,
transportation, care, etc.

That is the EU and acolyte countries, which are meeting these days in
Granada and which offer antisocial measures, against the working class,
against pensioners, against our youth. And that as an organization that
fights for the rights of people, citizens and the working class, CGT is
here with our protest and demands, together with the groups that
consider that the life and rights of working people are worthy of
defend. For this reason we have been actively participating in the
events that are being held these weeks by the Counter-Cumbre platform,
in the demonstrations on September 30 and October 5 in Granada. And we
will equally support the next ones that will be held, such as the
demonstration on October 28 in Madrid in defense of pensions, fair and
dignified for everyone.
