Request for Proposals:Jen Angel Anarchist Media Grants for Radical Writers, Artists and Creators
For nearly thirty years, the Institute for Anarchist Studies (IAS) has funded creative intellectual work that furthers anarchist ideas and makes them accessible to a broad audience. In partnership with IAS, Agency founded the Jen Angel Anarchist Media Grant program earlier this year in memory of Jen Angel, long-time anarchist, media activist, and co-founder of Agency. The Jen Angel Anarchist Media Grant program supports multimedia projects that help translate anarchist ideas and practices for the general public. Additionally, the IAS Anarchist Horizons grant supports a variety of radical projects, including written works, translations, artwork, performance, workshops, and events. Both of these grant programs typically award several micro-grants, prioritizing smaller proposals so that we can fund multiple projects each year. Priority is given to creators who are: BIPOC, QT and TNB, low-income, and working outside of academia. More information about the Jen Angel Anarchist Media Grant can be found on the Agency website. Submissions are currently open and will close March 31, 2024. Applicants will be notified of decisions on or before June 30, 2024. To apply, please visit the Institute for Anarchist Studies website, and for more information, contact us at: info@anarchiststudies.org.

Mutual Aid and the Criminalization of Compassion: “Humanitarian Aid Must Never Be A Crime”
Mutual aid work is community care. Mutual aid work is the work of love. Mutual aid work is the work of justice. If the government chooses to criminalize this work, it simply proves the government’s inhumanity and irrelevance. Mutual aid is all about people from below looking after each other, because time and time again it has been proven that we cannot rely on large institutions, for-profit businesses, nonprofits, or governments to be there for us in our time of need.
