WORLD WORLDWIDE CZECH News Journal Update - (en) Czech, AFED: A3: What is the government for? (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

We experienced a large-scale strike in education. What does it tellabout, among other things? Download, print and distribute the Novemberissue of the A3 wall newspaper! ---- A3 ---- The twenty-seventh ofNovember went down in our history primarily with the general strike, which in 1989 became a confirmation of the society-wide desire forchange - the desire for the end of one-party rule, the desire for theend of the dictates of the anointed heads in the Kremlin, the desire tobreathe freely, the desire to move somewhere. The fact that it isnecessary to go on strike again after 34 years is evidenced, among otherthings, by the fact that the company has moved, but not exactly in theright direction.Work stopped for one day, especially in education. The currentgovernment of Prime Minister Fiala declared this a priority in itsprogram statement, because it is about the future of all of us. Butpolitical and government programs are usually just a bunch of noise thatcan't even be taken seriously. And it is no different at this point. Ifanyone thought that Fiala's suite of neoliberal politicians wouldcontribute to the running of schools and their employees, whetherteaching or otherwise, so that they could live their lives with at leastsome dignity, then they must have fallen from the moon. It happenedexactly what could be expected. Instead of strengthening the department, improving salary conditions, modernizing teaching and better equippingclassrooms, we only hear the neoliberal mantra about how savings andcuts must be made. And so the real wages of employees in education areincreasingly dismal and the quality of teaching is declining. It's no wonder that the ODS government and its government cronies lackmoney on the revenue side of the budget, when they canceled thecalculation of income tax from super-gross wages together with anothersuccessful peep, Babish, with such fame. They have thus helped thosewith higher incomes and are paying for it by cutting off those who havethe least, and they heal themselves in the departments that arededicated to care - in the social sector, in the health sector or in theaforementioned education. Some future of society and the young generation is completely stolenfrom the political elites. Their extremist right-wing ideology dictatesthat everyone should take care of themselves first of all, and cough onothers who are just their competitors in this bleak world, or betteryet, step on their necks. In education, they prove it by allowing theirchildren to go to prestigious schools, while others look down humbly andlearn work habits and obedience as quickly as possible in a reducededucational process... and maybe even manage hunger occasionally. Whowould want to work, for example, in school canteens for a salary thatsometimes doesn't even have the potential to pay off bills for rent, energy, transportation and basic needs.Another proof of how the current government (and we are under noillusions that the Babish one with the support of Okamura's fascistswould be different) is neglecting the future and the young, is itsapproach to the urgency of the climate crisis. Sure - the rich and theirpolitical henchmen always manage to take care of themselves somehow. They don't care what happens to others. And so on, the superheroes ofthe ruthless capitalist order can be billionaires who profit fromdestroying the climate and destroying any auspicious prospects for thefuture of generations to come. These climate goons get maximum supportand benefits. So where are the real government priorities? Hint to thesmart, hit the stupid. The strike in education received "support" from the largest trade unionheadquarters, led by its - presidential candidacy discredited - head ofStredula. He likes to show off everywhere. He used last year's tradeunion demonstration for his election campaign, leaving only a bitteraftertaste. At another, he appeared on stage with Babis and otherpolitical parasites, including Bolsheviks and fascists. Although somehoped that a similar disgusting charade would not be repeated, they wereultimately disappointed when the protagonist of the pro-Russiandisinformation scene appeared on the super union podium on the day ofthe school strike. Everyone then said "I'm nothing, I'm a musician", butthe strike was irrevocably damaged in the media. And so the only real hope was, just like 34 years ago, the students -now especially the high school students, who also went on strike andcame to the streets of Prague to express solidarity with their teachers,as well as with the non-pedagogical employees of their schools, such ascleaners, cooks or janitors, on whom the government's wage terror fallsmost cruelly. Government parrots can crow about the fact that teacherstake students and pupils hostage during a strike, but they are not beinglied to. As long as they have at least some education, they will not letthemselves be told that better education will be achieved through themethod of cuts, just as they will not let themselves be told that theclimate crisis is best solved by supporting the fossil industry and noless harmful mammoth agribusiness. No government cares about our future. We are not interested in anygovernment. We don't need one. We can best protect our futurehttps://www.afed.cz/text/8067/a3-na-co-je-nam-vlada_________________________________________A - I N F O S  N E W S  S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
