Over the summer, an 8-year-old boy from Kansas attended a youth event of the Wyandotte Nation, to which he belongs. After witnessing the tribe's rich cultural and spiritual traditions, he decided to grow his hair long to honor his ancestry.
This was racially motivated discrimination, plain and simple. For so many cultures, hair is a vital part of expressing traditions and celebrating ancestry. R.V. Haderlein Elementary School's squashing of that expression, without a second thought, cannot be tolerated.
That's why we're demanding a public apology and an investigation into how this incident escalated in this way. Sign the petition.
Thank you,
Lauren

P.S. A Native American boy grew out his hair to honor and connect to his ancestry. Then, his school forced him to cut it. Sign the petition.
