WORLD WORLDWIDE ARGENTINA News Journal Update - (en) Argentina, Rosario FAR: Position January 2024 - THE ONLY POSSIBLE PATH: BUILDING ORGANIZED RESISTANCE (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

As did not happen many years ago, this January there was no truce, butit came in a context of upheaval and important concern with the measurespromoted by the government of Javier Milei and what they will bring inthe coming months. The shock was tremendous, even surpassing previousanalyzes of what this government would bring. The impact on our dailylives is overwhelming, even though the toughest measures have not yetbeen implemented. ---- In the last months of last year we advanced somecentral issues that this government would implement. However, realityexceeded what was anticipated. With the DNU and the package of lawspresented in Congress, the government seeks to modify long-held powerrelations and quickly and effectively change course.Today, just over a month after Javier Milei, along with his team and hispartners (Macristas and Menemistas), came to power, we can draw someconclusions that, although provisional, can serve to guide our analysis.-Milei and his team seek to step on the accelerator: measures such asthe DNU and the omnibus law point to a gross change in the rules of thegame in countless sectors and aspects. A disruptive way of dealing withrecent Argentine politics, where the adjustment and the constant andgradual crisis were getting us used to the worsening of conditions. Evendifferent from the government of Mauricio Macri, where reforms weresought, but more specific and progressive. It is a context, the currentone, where it is difficult to find a person who is not directly affectedby the government's measures.- As we anticipated in previous analyses, it would indeed seem that thealliance with the sector dominated by Mauricio Macri del Pro gave itenough structure to continue betting on winning. And it is also possiblethat Macri himself is executing a project that even surpasses Milei, weaving his own strategy from the shadows, but with a lot of politicalinfluence.- A key point, necessary to highlight because it establishes a changewith the rhetoric of the last forty years, is an open contempt forlegality and the Constitution, as well as a constant search for greaterautonomy for the executive.- Another interesting fact is the surprise and international interestthat Milei's election and government measures arouse. From the politicalarc present at his inauguration, to the constant crossings on socialnetworks, Argentina becomes an experiment to be observed by the rest ofthe planet.- Apparent lack of concern or minimization by the government of theimmediate effects of the crisis. Obviously, the reading they make isthat they have enough support so that explosions or popular rebellionsof magnitude do not occur, beyond the organized protests that Bullrichand his ministry seek to control with his repressive and persecutoryprotocol. However, it is worth noting that the policy of increasing theamount of misery implied by the universal child allowance and thecontinuity of social plans indicate that there is also a reading ofwhich sectors may overflow more than desired. Meanwhile, beyond theresounding loss of general purchasing power, both retirees and workers, formal and informal, are the main affected.- The national government and aligned provincial governments mark thepublic sector as a scapegoat. Since the inauguration, this sector hasbeen suffering the greatest effects and, on the other hand, it is alsoone of the most dynamic and present in sectoral and general struggles.- It is not surprising that the government maintains the continuity ofthe credit policy with the IMF, but it is surprising that the campaignpromises nevertheless become a strategy of increasing taxes as the mainmeans of fiscal adjustment. The increase in withholdings, the intentionto restore income tax and the general increase in taxes and servicesmarks this.-Finally, also as we anticipated, the other side of this unbridledadjustment and removal of rights is the growth of the repressivestrategy, focused mainly on the sectors organized with the circusprotocol to implement in the streets of the Federal Capital and thecriminal and economic persecution to organizations and theirrepresentatives.Faced with these abuses, we believe that it is important to analyze thepossible paths of response that have been outlined during the last monthand a half since the assumption of Javier Milei to the presidency and inview of the National Strike on January 24:The judicial path launched quickly and from various sectors. Theprotections were promoted to put a stop to specific points of what wasestablished in the DNU of last December and which came into force onDecember 29. Among them, those aimed at labor issues stand out, by theCGT and the CTA, but being much broader, reaching the point that today70% of the mega DNU is judicialized. Points on the reform of the State, labor, foreign trade, bioeconomy, aviation, justice, health, communication, sports and tourism are in different states within thejudicial path. The parliamentary route. The extraordinary sessions that began tooperate this month with the purpose of discussing the so-called OmnibusLaw allow a platform for both the ruling party and the opposition topresent their positions on these measures. Beyond what happens on thepremises, representative democracy provides the rules of the game forextreme delegation and the commitment of the "electorate" to make its"representatives" defend their interests. Specifically, in general termsit is a tug of war where the most disruptive thing was the government'sattitude of betting on everything or nothing, that is, on the law beingapproved in its entirety. This would seem to be becoming relativized, webelieve from our perspective, more linked to the effect of repudiationand the positions taken outside the legislature.Path of partisan opposition and of referents, media and outraged"citizens" on social networks. At this point we generally point out adiverse number of demonstrations of rejection of the measures promotedby the Milei government. On the one hand, repudiation on socialnetworks, campaigns to collect signatures (also virtual), disseminationof data for debate with what is proposed by the government are commoncurrency, promoted both by militant sectors of progressivism, whichfollow the same dynamic from the electoral period of 2023 as well as bysectors that are now very affected in their specific conditions by thepackage of measures. On the other hand, we find expressions in the mediafrom different political sectors, always in personalist and debateterms, here it is worth highlighting the lukewarmness and evendeliberate silence of sectors of the outgoing government and theimmobile opposition of Kirchnerism and massism, which came out to brandthe General Strike measure called by the CGT as excessive. At thispoint, we believe that almost all of the interventions are part of theelectoral dispute and the game of representation, seeking to referencepersonalities rather than having a significant effect on reality.Path of organization and struggle in resistance from popular sectors, unions, etc.: the path of direct action as a strategy to resist andconfront the measures promoted. Here we can mention the initiativescalled by particularly affected sectors, both in terms of streetstruggles and also in the formation of meeting bodies, assemblies andorganization in general. For example, actions promoted by tenants, retirees, in defense of culture and science, just to name a few. On theother hand, important sectors of social, picketing and territorialorganizations have been exponents of constant mobilization during thismonth and a half. To this it is worth adding unionism, in differentexpressions, regional or national, where particularly intense struggleshave developed. Especially the mobilization of December 27 to justicepromoted by the CGT and the next general strike on January 24. Thattool, the general strike at the national level, called by CGT and CTAs,we understand is unbalancing and indispensable in this context. The factthat a strike has not been called for 5 years undoubtedly also partlyexplains why we are in this situation, however, it does not diminish theimportance and relevance of participating and going beyond the measure. Are these opposite paths? Not necessarily. Without a doubt, theseriousness of the events, the pressing emergencies, justify thearticulation of various avenues of action and in that sense we welcomeall the initiatives that in some way contribute to addressing them. However, it is necessary to consider two things: on the one hand, whatstrategies will contribute in the medium long term to buildingresistance that is oriented towards strengthening the people andbuilding popular power, and which ones will contribute to the continuityof the representative democratic game and its rules that They havebrought us this far. And on the other hand, what is the potential ofisolated actions, in the face of a wave of measures that specificallyattacks so many sectors and how much more could be achieved by unitingthe struggle in pursuit of unity. Thus, from anarchism, with our strong conviction that the State andCapitalism go hand in hand, that from the institutions of the system wecan only expect the prolongation of current conditions, we express thatit is time to organize the forces to the maximum. popular andcollaborate with unity to confront the ultraliberal advance from thestruggle in the street. Only with direct action, with the possibilityfor our people to exercise their decision-making capacities and regaintheir prominence, will we be able to put a stop to these measures andthose to come. This is not a time for sectarianism but for the broadestunity. In that sense, we welcome the struggle plan promoted by the unioncenters and believe that it is a step on the right path. For thisreason, we consider that the place of anarchists in this situation is toparticipate and promote these measures, in the greatest possible arc ofunity and overflowing from below any attempt at a truce to adjustment, hunger, unemployment, poverty and inequality. .Anarchist Federation of Rosario, January 2024.https://federacionanarquistaderosario.blogspot.com/2024/01/el-unico-camino-posible-construir.htmlhttps://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=866309332163969&set=a.132988962162680_________________________________________A - I N F O S  N E W S  S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
