WORLD WORLDWIDE BRAZIL News Journal Update - (en) Brazil, OSL, Libera #179 - EDITORIAL - LIBERA KEEP ALIVE AND BECOMES THE NEWSPAPER OF THE LIBERTARIAN SOCIALIST ORGANIZATION (OSL) (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Workers' and anarchist newspapers have always played a fundamental rolein socialist, anti-capitalist and anti-statist criticism, as well as instrengthening the processes of popular struggle in which libertarianswere involved. In this sense, Libera, an anarchist newspaper founded inJune 1991 in Rio de Janeiro, is a historical continuity of the anarchistnewspapers of previous decades. Created by activists from the Círculo deEstudos Libertários (CEL), an anarchist space founded in 1985 also inRio de Janeiro, Libera emerged with the task of disseminating CEL'sactivities and strengthening ties between anarchists, until then verydispersed. , when we had just emerged from a long military dictatorship. In the decade of its emergence, Libera was an important instrument forthe reorganization of anarchism in Brazil and in its willingness to linkanarchism to popular struggles. In the beginning, the periodical wascalled Libera...Amore Mio (a name chosen by the late companion PedroKroupa) in reference to the 1975 Italian film directed by MauroBolognini, which was set in fascist Italy, starring actress ClaudiaCardinale in the role of Libera Valente, a strong and courageous womanwho could not stand fascism. As CEL's monthly newsletter, Libera, inaddition to the space's weekly programming, publicized anti-capitaliststruggles and social mobilizations, making it possible to connectanarchists from different states, in an embryonic attempt at nationalarticulation in the early 1990s. neoliberalism and the crisis ofsocialism, but also the struggles against privatization and theemergence of numerous anarchist collectives and spaces. It was from 1995 onwards that Libera began to publicize the experienceof the Uruguayan Anarchist Federation (fAu) and helped to spreadespecifism, previously unknown in Brazil, whose first organization wasthe Gaúcha Anarchist Federation (FAG), founded in November 1995. It wasduring this period that the Círculo de Estudos Libertários changed itsname to Círculo de Estudos Libertários Ideal Peres (CELIP), in honor ofthe activist who died on August 16 of that year. Between the end of 1995and the beginning of 1996, the Brazilian Anarchist Construction proposalwas launched, an organizational platform that aimed to "create, in theshort term (from 1996 to 2001), (...) specific instances of anarchism asa force organized politics (...), at local, micro-regional and statelevels" (OASL/FARJ, Elements for a historical reconstitution, 2012). Thedissemination of this proposal began to influence part of Braziliananarchism, which adopted the line of a combative, classist anarchism, inserted in popular struggles and with a strong political-militantcommitment.Reconstruction of the proposal for a national anarchist organization From the 2000s onwards, Brazilian especifista anarchism was structuredaround the Organized Anarchism Forum (FAO), which in 2012 developed intothe political project of the Brazilian Anarchist Coordination (CAB). Itis in this context, between comings and goings, that the AnarchistFederation of Rio de Janeiro (FARJ), Rusga Libertária, from Mato Grosso, the Anarchist Socialism Libertarian Organization (OASL), from São Paulo, and the Coletivo Mineiro Popular Anarquista (COMPA ), from Minas Gerais, established themselves and established themselves. However, after 10 years of CAB, these four organizations chose to followa different path. The details and reasons for the Coordination'sdeparture are set out in another text, which can be read later. What isimportant to say here is that, in 2022, they ended their participationin the construction of the CAB, and together with some other individualsand groups from other states, they decided to move on to a new stage.Founding of OSLAfter a long process of debate, the organizations OASL, FARJ, RUSGALIBERTÁRIA and COMPA, meeting in congress, founded the LibertarianSocialist Organization (OSL) and adopted Libera as the officialnewspaper of the new organization. This decision is a public recognitionof the importance of Libera for organized anarchism and especifism inBrazil. Libera is the longest-running newspaper in the history ofanarchism in Brazil and is now continued by militants from differentgenerations, united in a national organization project, whose commitmentto socialism, classism and freedom become the connecting links betweenpast, present and future. From the next issue onwards, Libera will bethe official journal of the OSL and will continue to publicize socialstruggles, reinforcing anti-capitalism, anti-statism and the need for asocial revolution that destroys capitalism, racism and patriarchy andbuilds popular self-government of workers. From the next issue onwards, our newspaper, Libera, will represent thischange of line and organizational advancement, which we hope willcontribute to the path of the Brazilian social revolution,anti-capitalist, anti-statist, socialist and libertarian!Long live Libera!Long live OSL!https://socialismolibertario.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Libera-outubro-2023-V4_web_FINAL.pdf_________________________________________A - I N F O S  N E W S  S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
