celebrates the memory of Juan Carlos Mechoso, whose passing took place
on October 11, 2022. Mechoso was certainly one of the most important
anarchist militants in the history of our Latin American continent and
continues as a great inspiration of our organization. ---- His
dedication of more than 70 years to the cause of anarchism left a rich
theoretical and practical legacy. Juan Carlos Mechoso was one of the
main militants of the Uruguayan Anarchist Federation (fAu) and its armed
wing, the Popular Organization - 33 Orientals (OPR-33), which
established a unique experience of anarchism, whose ideological forms
later gained the name of especifismo . Several activists from the
organizations that founded the OSL had the pleasant opportunity to meet
him in person in the Cerro neighborhood, in Montevideo. Juan Carlos was
a meatpacking worker, but he was very self-taught and had a unique
experience of activism. His extensive militant experience coexisted
without conflict with his modesty, his good humor and his ability to
analyze reality. Our activism reaffirms his memory, his legacy and
influence. We reaffirm our feelings to the family and fellow members of
the FAu.

TWO LIBERTARIAN MILITANTS WHO LEAVE
Luiz Rendeiro, an anarchist activist born in Belém do Pará and very
active in the June 2013 protests, passed away on March 26, 2023. Luiz
was part of several collectives, such as "Mais Amor e Menos Capital" and
the Urutau Autonomous Brigade , who fought the fires in Chapada dos
Guimarães-MT, demonstrating his commitment to the radical transformation
of society and social ecology.
Also leaving on April 3, in the city of Rosário, was the libertarian
activist Yoli Ruiz, linked to the Anarchist Federation of Rosário (FAR).
A committed activist, she participated in several acts, protests and
meetings amid the popular struggle of Rosario.
She dedicated much of her life to the path of anti-capitalist and
libertarian socialist social transformation.
The newspaper Libera expresses strength to family and friends, as well
as doing justice to the memory of these two fighters for the social
revolution.
