As a reminder, the 2019 trial at first instance concluded withthe leaders of France Telecom Orange being sentenced to prison terms,including four months. A sentence which may appear as "symbolic" giventhe seriousness of the facts, but a sentence rarely pronounced againstCAC 40 leaders.However, we had become worried about the outcome of this new trial,because the pressure from employers to review the decline in penaltiesagainst Orange leaders was palpable. The media pressure that existed in2019 had subsided, it was necessary to start shining the spotlight againon this new trial.In the first instance, we invited personalities from civil society(authors, actors, sociologists, doctors, journalists, lawyers, etc.) tocome and write a chronicle of the court hearing. These chronicles werepublished on our website proceslombard.fr and they were also the subjectof a book "The reason of the strongest" by Éditions de l'Atelier.To extend this book, we formed a collective determined to begin filminga documentary, without even having previously defined the outline ofthis project. If it was not possible to film in the courthouse itself,our cameras had to find the means to convey the atmosphere of lead anddismay, such was the behavior of the defendants. dismaying embarrassment.The interviews with the "columnists" therefore had to be part of thisdocumentary. But quickly, it seemed necessary to us to take a look backat the history of the privatization of France Telecom, which wasultimately an illustration of this period of liberal counter-revolutionin the 1980s when ultraliberalism triumphed in a world stuck in aendless crisis for workers.A questioning of the trade union and political worldDuring the first screenings of the film on the big screen, the debatesshowed how the story of the France Telecom tragedy resonated with thestory of today's employees, exposed to harmful working conditions,precarious, isolated, deskilled, made redundant...The major media also echo columns which denounce the situation facedtoday by employees, with suffering at work which affects all theenvironments.Furthermore, the rise in indicators such as fatal accidents at work, thenumber of work stoppages (burn out, suffering at work, depression,etc.), the growing precariousness of employees and the development ofworker poverty , confront us with a new historical social disorder.Is it possible to make a backfire? This is the question we are asking,after years of union and legal combat in the France Telecom Orangecrisis, after months of united combat to defend pensions in the streetsin 2022...Obviously, we must today today union work aimed at parliamentarians totoughen the law on institutional harassment at work with prisonsentences of up to 10 years. But we must also reduce the precariousnesswhich has exploded with self-employed entrepreneurs condemned byuberization, with cascades of subcontracting which remove responsibilityfrom those giving orders, with relocation blackmail which breaksbusinesses. We still need to establish the conditions for true socialdemocracy with industrial tribunal judges elected by all employees,staff delegates elected in all companies, CHSCTs who can carry outinvestigations and appeals against employers, strengthened laborinspection and occupational health, with development of their skills inmatters of workplace accidents and psychosocial risks...Battles that are not fought are battles lost in advance. We do notdespair of finally seeing a healthy start.A film that wants to speak to young peopleThis is clearly our desire. Today's youth have their dreams and theirdemands, this is the conclusion of our documentary:"Can we really continue to believe that the future of men and women liesin work which suddenly loses all its meaning?Youth are paying the high price of this abysmal fall.Extreme precariousness, sterile and humiliating jobs, contempt for aruling class which displays its luxury, its futility and its demand for"Always more!"
