On January 9, 2013, three Kurdish activists Sakine Cansiz, Fidan Dogan
and Leyla Saylemez were murdered in the middle of the day in the centerof Paris, each with three bullets in the head. A range of evidencesuggests that this assassination attempt was carried out by the Turkishstate and its secret service. The arrested perpetrator died shortlybefore the murder trial began in Paris. ---- Almost ten years later, onDecember 23, 2022, the Kurdish artists Emine Kara and Mîr Perwer as wellas the long-time activist Abdurrahman Kizil were murdered in a secondattack in front of the Ahmet Kaya Cultural Center in Paris.Since the attack in 2013, the Kurdish freedom movement has mobilizedevery year from all over Europe to Paris for a large memorial march forthose murdered. Our French sister organization Union CommunisteLibertaire has been taking part in the demonstration with its own blocfor many years. In doing so, they are sending a clear signal: thelibertarian movement stands firmly on the side of the Kurdish freedommovement's fight for self-determination, self-management, the liberationof women and an ecological perspective.The Kurdish freedom movement is mobilizing again to Paris on January 6,2024. Comrades from our organization will also make their way to theFrench capital. There we will join the bloc of comrades from UnionCommuniste Libertaire. We call on you to come to Paris and join us underthe black and red flags.There will be joint bus journeys from many German cities. These willeither be announced publicly shortly beforehand or can be requested fromthe Kurdish structures in your city or region. In previous years, therewas repeated harassment by the state authorities when arriving, andactivists were sometimes refused entry to France. So be sure to preparefor such eventualities.
