The 10th anniversary of the festival "Father Frost against Putin" isapproaching; let us remember what happened last January. Then thefestival was held for the first time in three years. At first, theFinnish border was closed by Covid, then by the war in Ukraine, but inthe end it was decided to continue organizing the festival in Helsinki, but under new conditions. Since it became difficult to get to thefestival from Russia, it was decided to make real-time streams of allperformances of the festival, as well as streams of translations andrecordings of all performances and translations. It was quite an ambitious plan, given the fact that there were also sideevents, some recordings suffered due to technical problems. Inparticular, a Russian-language recording of the first performance of thefestival on January 6 - the introduction of a discussion on the topic"Anti-war movement - what next?" from Sasha Starost, artist, activistand curator of the psycho-direction of the Feminist Anti-War Resistance, could not be obtained in acceptable condition. We publish only arecording of the translation, along with an introduction from ananonymous member of the Antijob collective, in English (YouTube,Spotify). The second introduction from a member of the Antijob team waspreserved in Russian. The recording of the second report of the festival, on the topic"Helping anti-war prisoners - what should be done now?", from SashaStarost, was also possible to do only in English (YouTube, Spotify).Along with these discussions, a video workshop was held on preparingshort activist videos, with practical tips, a short introduction tosimple programs, and a practical approach to preparing your own videos. The workshop was hosted by video blogger Dimitri Ollikainen fromTampere. We were able to record this workshop only in Finnish, therecording can be found here.On Saturday, January 7, 2023, we planned to hold a discussion with anintroduction from Alexander Belik, coordinator of the Conscious ObjectorMovement and head of the advocacy program of the Sfera Foundation, onthe topic "Resistance in emigration. How can we act together against theauthorities in Russia?", but, unfortunately, he fell ill and hisperformance was cancelled. This year a similar discussion is plannedagain on Sunday 14 January at 12:00 in Ulrika (Leppäsuonkatu 11). Theentire program of the 10th anniversary of the festival on January 12-14,2024 is here.As a result, last year's festival ended with a successful rave party, atwhich the activists who are organizing the festival this year met eachother for the first time.
