Unity of ends and means ---- The 23rd year is passing... It seems
unlikely that many of our readers and listeners are greeting 2024 withoptimism. Many are in forced relocation: in Georgia, Armenia, the Balticand Central Asian countries, Serbia, Montenegro, Israel, Argentina,France, Spain, Germany, Scandinavia and so on, sorting out the hundredhundred problems that any migrants inevitably face. ---- Quite a lot ofpeople who could listen and read us will be celebrating the New Yearbehind bars. Surprisingly, many of our comrades are still inside theRussian Federation, which requires remarkable restraint and often quitea lot of secrecy.We must admit that in 2023 our success scenarios have failed.Since the beginning of the 2010s, it has become clear in Russia that noadequate social development is possible while the regime of post-Sovietelderly gopniks, KGB pensioners, Komsomol and criminal groups is in power.In the early 2010s, anarchists perceived themselves as part of a protestmovement initiated by the liberal opposition. The indecision of thismovement and unwillingness to confrontation already in 2012 led toserious defeats. By 2023, the remnants of this movement have beendestroyed or driven out of Russia.Abroad, the liberal opposition was unable to form a conditional"government in exile." Relocant liberals are producing a blizzard like "passports of good Russians ", " elf factories " or promoting extremelyunpopular ideas of the collapse of Russia .In 2022, the concept that freedom could be brought to Russia on tanks ofthe Armed Forces of Ukraine seemed quite workable . Our good friend, oneof the authors of "Avtonom" Dmitry Petrov, gave his life for thisconcept . By the end of 2023, it is clear that this is not working. Theactions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not lead to global changes inRussia, and in some ways even rallied the population around the Kremlin.Two global failures. Everything needs to be built roughly anew. The goodnews is that it was the anarchist principle of unity of ends and meansthat emerged.The Russian liberal opposition - the godfathers and matchmakers of theKremlin's gopnik grandfathers - are not the ones who will bring freedom.Just like Ukrainian patriotism and NATO weapons, this is not a resourcefor the liberation of Russia.Even if everything needs to be built anew, these ordeals have shown thatwe need to build exactly our way, the anarchist way. No one will give usdeliverance, neither God, nor the king or the hero, we will achieveliberation with our own hand. The only way.Russia without a bottomPutin's Russia in 2023 is not a strong state, not a "dictatorship of thelaw." They don't try people here for armed rebellion, but they blow themup two months later . A teenager who beat a defendant in a pre-trialdetention center is showered with decorations and appointed to positionsthat he cannot occupy due to his age. Nazi Germany was the same:Hitler's power was built on fear, lawlessness, and the voluntarism ofgroups close to the throne.In the Russian parliament there are hundreds of seemingly honored unclesand aunts, but they are so trained that they are ready to sign foranything, and do not hesitate to make decisions that provoke nuclearescalation.The ongoing Russian-Ukrainian massacre has already claimed more thanhalf a million lives. Gigantic prison sentences for any dissent. Thelaws have been rewritten in such a way that, in principle, it isimpossible to make almost any artistic or political statement withoutbreaking something.If, as part of the mobilization in the fall of 2022, the state decidedthat it had the right to dispose of the lives of its adult citizens, in2023 it went further, seriously getting into people's pants . The kingimagined that he had the right to regulate who could have sex with whomand how, and how many children should be produced as a result.What is encouraging about this dystopia come true: obviously, many donot agree with this state of affairs. We see anarchist projects withinthe Russian Federation and among relocants. We see many attempts insideRussia to organize protests , opposition politics or partisan struggle .This inspires optimism, gives hope that perhaps this is not the longestnight, but still twilight before dawn.
