State. ---- Ocalan was arrested in Kenya in 1999, in a joint operation

US CIA. During this long prison, Ocalan has dedicated himself to
studying and theorizing about the history of the Kurdish people, the
region in which they live (the Middle East) and the construction of a
socialist society, which overcomes the current situation of domination
of the Kurdish people, but also of the region, and even at the
international level. Ocalan continues a militant task in prison that the
PKK had been carrying out: criticism of the construction models of "real
socialism" and its legacy, as well as a strong criticism of the State as
an instrument of oppression and not suitable for the liberation of the
towns.

Thus, Ocalan writes several books in prison that reorient the thinking
of the Kurdish liberation movement where it has spread in Turkey, Syria,
Iraq and Iran. The structures linked to the PKK have been those that
have stopped the advance of fascist groups such as the Islamic State in
Syria and have allowed the communalist experience of the Administration
of the North and Northeast of Syria to be built there, a grassroots
socialist experience where Kurds, Arabs and and other ethnicities.

The thinking of the PKK and Ocalan in particular has been influenced by
Anarchism, especially during prison. Thus, elements of our ideology have
been added and mixed with the experiences of struggle of the Kurdish
people and their long resistance at all levels against the policies of
the States of the region.

Our Organization has become aware of this process and follows it
closely. Beyond the geographical and cultural distance, there are people
who fight for desires that are dear to us and that we share:
overthrowing capitalist society and building a society where human
beings can live on an equal footing, without social classes and without
the State.

We know that political processes are not linear and are not dictated by
any manual or decreed. Social processes, of a popular nature, from below
and that confront powerful enemies are always complex, they follow
tortuous paths, full of sacrifices and face decisions that morally and
ideologically strain men and women, political and social organizations,
placing them in situations limit. Even more so, when the different
imperialist powers are active in the region, whose alliances vary
according to their own interests, such as the case of the United States,
which supports the Kurdish people when it suits them, but its historical
behavior has been in support of genocidal states.

The dilemma is to face these challenges or remain on the sidelines of
history. Building a different society is plagued by these types of
problems. And not to mention,

a fierce repression of the States and bourgeoisie that seek to maintain
capitalist domination at all costs.

That is why through this statement we join the campaign for the release
of Abdullah Ocalan, to put an end to his unjust imprisonment as well as
that of thousands of Kurdish and Turkish leftist militants in the worst
prisons in the world. (as the prisons of the Turkish State have been
recognized for decades). A State that has also committed one of the
worst genocides in the past, against the Armenian people and today,
commits it against several peoples in the region, and that has been a
partner of the State of Israel, even though today it criticizes the
siege and genocide of the Palestinian people, a people for whom Turkey
as a State has done very little.

The freedom of Abdullah Ocalan, along with that of thousands of Kurdish
political prisoners, is essential for the continuation and advancement
of the process of struggle of said people and the oppressed peoples of
the region against capitalism and the State.
