27-02-2024 In this edition of BRUZZ International, we have a closer look at the Vietnamese community in Brussels. Last Sunday on the show: Restaurant Nénu in Saint-Gilles Le Nénuphar is one of the oldest Vietnamese restaurants in Brussels. Many years later, the same family opened restaurant Nénu. "Here at Nénu, the cuisine is modern Vietnamese. We look for strong flavours reminiscent of Vietnamese cuisine. With fermented and pickled products and lots of very specific spices. We dare more and leave the well-trodden paths." Report by Jose Huedo.   Watch the report Vietnamese New Year The Vietnamese community in Brussels celebrated the Vietnamese New Year in style. They ushered in the Year of the Dragon with music, theatre and delicious food. "I want to say to Vietnamese living in Belgium: Do your best to integrate, but don't forget to pass on your culture and traditions to the next generations. You can be proud of the good traditions you have." Report by Napoleon Ramos. Watch the report Maria Truong: 'It's nice that you can rely on the Vietnamese community' She was born in Denmark to Vietnamese parents, but now Maria Truong lives in Brussels and works for the Belgian Vietnamese Alliance. "Even though I grew up in Denmark, at home everything was very Vietnamese. I ate Vietnamese. The music was Vietnamese, the television was Vietnamese. Everything around me was and still is Vietnamese." It was here that she was able to really flourish as a poet and photographer. "I started writing poems when I was 11 or 12. But in Vietnam they always chose men, and only what men did mattered."
