This January 29, 2024 - National Trans Visibility Day -, 20 years arecelebrated since the date was chosen in 2004. 20 years that signal theorganization of transvestite and trans movements for the right to existand survive in a society marked by capitalist exploitation, socialinequality and political projects that defend the annihilation of thelives of non-cisgender people. Although the struggle of transvestitesand trans people is old, prior to the definition of the date andextending beyond it, designing a national day of visibility meant animportant step in organizing resistance, boosting communityarticulations. This step was reinforced with the public event inBrasília ("1st Marsha trans Brasil"), held on January 28, 2024.According to data from the "Dossier: Murders and violence againstBrazilian transvestites and transsexuals - 2024", an annual surveyproduced by ANTRA, referring to 2023, Brazil continues to be the countrythat murdered the most trans people for the 15th consecutive year. In2023, there was a 10% increase in the number of murders compared to2022. Of the 155 trans people killed in 2023, 145 were murdered - manyof these murders involved extreme violence, such as charring, beheadingsand torture. The 10 other cases refer to suicides, pointing to the factthat living conditions tragically affect the mental health of thecommunity. Underreporting of data still constitutes one of the problemsfaced in surveying this situation, it is clear that the numbers are muchhigher. The moral patrol guided by the most regressive ideas of the extremeright, the denial of citizenship by the State, the difficulties imposedin obtaining and maintaining jobs and access to Education and Health, the precariousness of life, gender-based violence, hate speech ,persecution, death threats and murders make life expectancy very low forthe trans community. All this in the country that ranks first in theworld in terms of consumption of trans pornography on digital adultcontent platforms - violence and objectification appear as two sides ofthe same coin. The fight for social protection requires public policies in the areas ofhealth, education, security, combating gender-based violence, etc.focused on the life needs of transvestites and trans people. However, even the claim that the social name be the main identification in thenew ID was recently denied by the federal government, which opted tomaintain the differentiation between "registration name" and "socialname", in addition to the "sex" field. . Current governments continue toprovide no answers for the preservation of human integrity and transexistences. In this context, collective organization, with class independence andcombativeness, through direct action, has demonstrated itself as theonly concrete path to real social transformation, a transformation thatenables dignified conditions for trans existence. The systems ofdomination structured by the State, the Patriarchy and Capitalism actdirectly in maintaining a predatory society. We long for a world inwhich lives and social rights are not violated and denied, in whichsexualities flourish with the right to develop freely. Therefore, wedefend the struggle of the trans and LGBT+ community and collectivelybuild the tools to make this new world possible. For struggle, resistance and trans lives! For the Social Revolution and Libertarian Socialism!Libertarian Socialist Organizationhttps://socialismolibertario.net/2024/01/29/29-de-janeiro-dia-nacional-da-visibilidade-trans/_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
