Malatesta's voluntarism settles accounts both with those who believed
that a story already written should only be supported and with the
positivism dominant at the time.
Lover of science but critical of scientism, Malatesta knows that truth
is a process in constant verification, without final destinations: his
reflection offers us important insights in a time that pays the price of
capitalist madness, which has put research at the service of profit ,
even at the cost of destroying the planet and those who live on it.

Malatesta supported the need for the specific organization of
anarchists. Anarchist organization and, therefore, guarantee of freedom
for those who adhere to it, and prefiguration of libertarian political
and social relationships. In this he distinguished himself from those
who, with respect to the movement of workers, believed that trade union
organizations were sufficient to set social transformation in motion.

His reflection on violence is crucial, necessary for defense, but never
an instrument of imposition because, due to the necessary coherence
between means and ends, an imposed revolution denies itself and results
in the worst of authoritarianism.

His reflection, in constant revisionism of itself, arrives at the
conception of revolutionary gradualism, i.e. the awareness that the
insurrectional event, which marks the end of hierarchy and capitalism,
does not automatically open the doors to a world of free and equal,
without conflicts.
On the contrary, the insurrection and the consequent rupture of the
social imaginary are the first, indispensable step for triggering a
process of experimentation, which, step by step, makes the anarchist
perspective of self-organization and self-management more concrete.

Differentiated autonomy between the small Northern League countries and
the centralism of the PD
The League receives the approval of the differentiated autonomy project
in parliament, which will inevitably accentuate the already strong gap
between the richer and poorer regions.
The parliamentary opposition responds by waving the tricolors in defense
of the centralized state, which decides and dispenses.
Neither of the two prospects appears attractive for those in the north
as well as in the south who have to deal with the hardship of living in
a society divided into classes that both the Northern
League/fascists/centre right and the Democrats and Five Star Movements
actively defend.
They call it federalism but it is just a mechanism that fuels social
selfishness. The new law will end up affecting rich regions too, because
it has the explicit aim of completely dismantling state-run healthcare
in favor of private healthcare.
We know that neither of the two models will protect the health of all of
us, especially the poorest, with little money and few social resources.

Antimilitarist Assembly
Two weeks ago the periodic meeting of anti-militarist groups, assemblies
and coordinations was held in Maveretico, which discussed the autumn
struggles and the prospects for the struggle in the coming months

January 26th was the "National Day dedicated to the memory and sacrifice
of the Alpine troops". Established in May 2022, it was celebrated for
the first time last year "in memory of the heroism demonstrated by the
army corps in the Battle of Nikolajewka on 26 January 1943", during the
Second World War. The all too explicit intention is to celebrate the
adventure of the ARMIR, the Italian expeditionary force sent to Russia
by Mussolini to support Nazi Germany's aggression against the Soviet Union.
On January 26, one day before the day of remembrance, in which we
remember the extermination of European Jews and Roma in Nazi camps and
the racial laws in Italy during the dictatorship, we celebrate the war
wanted by the fascist government and the patriotic values that justified
it .
A true state revisionism.
This celebration, which puts national interest and patriotic rhetoric
back at the centre, as a founding element of modern-day militarism,
produces an excess of memory to the detriment of history.
On January 26, 1943, Italian and German troops had already lost the war
on the Russian front. The Alpine troops sent to the frozen plain were
completely surrounded by Soviet troops. The Battle of Nikolajewka served
to ensure an escape route for the soldiers. A disastrous escape, in the
heart of the Russian winter, in which many poor people sent to the front
for the Duce and the King died.
Human pity for those proletarians sent to the slaughterhouse, a feeling
shared by many in our country, cannot and must not translate into
patriotic exaltation of a war of invasion alongside the Nazis.

The Alpine troops have been and are today in the front row of the wars
in which Italy has participated in recent years. Six months abroad and
six months in the military control of the cities - operation "safe
streets" - or in the militarized construction sites of Valsusa.
The circle closes. A fascist battle to celebrate Mussolini's war and to
relaunch Italy's new imperialist adventures.
January 26 should be a day of mourning. Mourning for the millions of
civilians who died in that war that bloodied Europe. Mourning because,
from the ashes of fascism, a government that takes inspiration from that
era resurrects patriotic rhetoric, the war of conquest, the horrors of
colonialism.
Let's stop them before it's too late.
