The FVG Region, indifferent and contemptuous towards months of citizenmobilization, is responsible for the fact that the health company(Asugi) closed the clinics of San Giacomo and San Giovanni. TheConstitution provides for the legislative competences of the State andthe Regions for the protection of health: the Region plans and manageshealthcare in full autonomy: this means that the choice to disinvest inlocal healthcare and to close clinics is the responsibility of the Region.Over the last year, we have distributed endless leaflets, sent hundredsof letters to local newspapers, organized a large spring demonstrationin Piazza Unità, symbolically entered the San Marco clinic and kept itopen for two days with a demonstration , thousands of us descended fromSan Giacomo towards Piazza Unità on the occasion of the InternationalDay against Violence against Women, we studied the legislation, we wrotea fanzine, we gave interviews to the local and national press, wecoordinated with the other mobilizations for the clinics around Italy,we organized weekly flashmobs in front of the four offices, we launchedmailbombing and collected thousands of signatures. We spoke with manypeople and all the people we met in these months of mobilization thinkthat the closure of two clinics is madness.But despite all this, the health authority has reached the final act ofits destructive work: it has removed the name "consultancy" from thefacades and carried outthe moving of machinery and documents and the transfer of personnel.The regional health councilor, architect Riccardo Riccardi, declared inDecember 2023 that, with the closure of two clinics, "the hours andservices of the new clinic structure are increased, the proximity tohome care is increased". He is not surprised that an architect does notunderstand that clinics are local local services and not centralizedspecialist clinics.The FVG Region and Asugi close two out of four clinics, in a city wherethe law would provide for ten. Faced with a femicide every three days,two centers against gender violence are closing. Although the WHO (andeven the Pnrr) proposes local health, they dismantle local services andcentralize the structures. Although the mental health index ofadolescents is dangerously low and the need for sexual and emotionaleducation support increases, two youth spaces are closing.We don't know what will happen now for teenagers, parents, newborns,girls, women, queer people in Trieste: we would have liked more clinics,more inclusive clinics and instead they are taking away what little wehad. They try to deceive us by saying that the new structures will beopen a few more hours: but we know how to do the math and we know thatin reality they are taking away our total hours of service, we know thatthey are not replacing those who are retiring, that they have stoppedproviding sexual education in schools.We are right and we won't stop.
