Sunday January 14, the UCL Savoies Group welcomed Yannis Youlountas forthe militant preview presentation of his new film, We are not afraid ofruins. The opportunity to return to the struggles of residents of theExarcheia district in Athens, against the hard right of Mitsotakis who, coming to power in Greece in 2019, promised to put an end to the"anti-authoritarian" district. Yannis Youlountas films the struggle, itsactresses and actors, always rebellious and united.Sunday January 14, with the Attac de Savoie collective, we welcomedYannis and Maud Youlountas for a day dedicated to struggle andsolidarity. The UCL Savoies group, accompanied by libertarian comrades, revolutionary trade unionists and anarcho-syndicalists, set up at 10a.m. at the Jean Renoir room in Chambéry to cook collectively and tomusic a soup kitchen with vegetables collected the day before at the market. For the occasion we redecorated the space in red and black, installed apress table and put on sale books from our stock and from one of ourpartners, the Chambery cooperative bookseller, Jean-Jacques Rousseau.Yannis and Maud came on their side with a number of books on Greece,t-shirts in support of different struggles and olive oil to sell insupport of the fight against the construction of the airport fromKastelli in Crete. Finally, we had set up a space to collect donationsfor the solidarity convoys to Greece; concrete actions of directsolidarity are an integral part of our struggles."Reclaim the beach", that is to say "Reclaim the beach", can we read onthis banner (intended for tourists) during an action against theprivatization of beaches."We are not afraid of ruins, we carry a new world in our hearts.»At 2 p.m. we sat down for the screening of this fourth film by Yanniswhich continues to document from the inside the struggles taking placein Greece, and here mainly in the rebellious district of Exarcheia, condemned to vilification by the government right wing of Mitsotakis. And as in his previous opuses, Let's no longer live like slaves (2013),I fight therefore I am (2015) and Love and the Revolution (2018), Yannisshows all of life, the creativity which is at the heart struggles for aunited, self-managed world, freed from the domination of the State andcapital. The same emancipatory breath runs through these struggles whereanti-fascism, the fight against the gentrification of a neighborhood, the reception of migrants, the opposition to the construction of anairport in Crete and, on the island of Paros in the Cyclades, apopulation committed against the privatization of beaches, so that theybecome a common good again, for the happiness of all. And always the joyand the will to never give in to renunciation.David (UCL Savoies)Participate in solidarityIf you want to support our self-managed solidarity initiatives inGreece, three options are available to you:By transfer: IBAN of ANEPOS: FR46 2004 1010 1610 8545 7L03 730 BIC:PSSTFRPPTOU Please mention in the subject of the transfer: ActionSolidarité GreeceBy check payable to ANEPOS, to be sent to: ANEPOS Action SolidaritéGreece 6 Allée Hernando 13500 MartiguesSolidarity convoy to Greece, 2024.As in previous years, a solidarity convoy will leave for self-managedplaces in Greece, in support of the struggles and the collectives whichhelp precarious Greeks and exiles.
